No. He would've been behind even Zion and Terrence
Like not letting Lewis play more has really made a difference on this Team, even if Haliburton hadn't been injured he wasn't going to help much! He can't win by himself!

some amazing moments with Johnny. All the Kansas games, Iowa in 87, Missouri in 89 where the term Hilton Magic was coined (my personal favorite in that stretch was the Kansas game lost by 45 there and Bowen Born’s dad led us to a win).

amazing on the other end of the spectrum too. Losing to Creighton with big Vic. Breaking Colorado’s 100 year road losing streak. Steve ******* Henson scoring 18 points in the last 4 minutes to steal one from us.

he’s the coach at utsa now, I mentioned where I graduated from to him at a roadrunner event. He still mentions that game every single time I see him.

That team with Big Vic was one of the best starting fives, but no bench. Big V had the softest hands to catch any pass or shoot the pull up 15 footer, but his elbow hook to spin on the post defender drove opposing coaches fits as it was seldom called.

During football season one year I went to a scrimmage at Hilton and Danny Manning was there. We went over an talked to him and he was really gracious. Amazing that he never won a game in Hilton!

One of my great memories was a night in grad school playing Missouri when Norm Stewart was still coach. He was trying to intimidate the officials, when a Latino referee walked away. Norm yelled at him, "Hey, taco bell, I'm not done with you!" Amazingly he didn't get a T. We (maybe we had a bit of antifreeze before the game) yelled back, "Hey Norm, no racial slurs. This is Iowa, the education state!" (Anthony Peelers family, I believe an Aunt and Uncle were two rows in front of us) Norm turned around with furrowed brow and looked at us, then winked! He was in complete control. Then he turned back and started yelling at the ref again.

Interesting I thought ISU had some early intrest in Fudge but not much connecting ISU and him recently... until today. I assume the "and an assistant" is Kane. Good player great name.

@jakeweingarten Source: Iowa State’s Steve Prohm and an assistant will be in tomorrow for four-star junior Alex Fudge. He visited Georgia Tech last weekend.

Have to think that Georgia Tech's latest scandal could hurt his recruitment for them a bit right?

GT just take their medicine and accept there post season ban this year to avoid a future potentially longer one. Not sure if that'll be the entire penalty but it probably won't affect Fudge recruitment.
Pastner after all is very comfortable recruiting under NCAA sanctions. Now we'll see if Pastner is the coach in 2 years, his seat is warm now trending towards hot.

Isn't their ban for next season as well?

ESPN had a crawl that said they were not contesting the ban, and would be eligible for 20-21 postseason play (but I was wondering at the time if they missed the "in" in ineligible). When was the last time they made the tournament anyway?

Edit- Wikipedia says 2010

Wow. I mean I get the ACC is tough, but if teams like Miami, Clemson, and Virginia Tech can get in every once in awhile GT shouldn't have that much trouble. That is an awful stretch, worse than the McD era was here.

I have seen reports that he is 6'8 now. A wing with that height would be amazing.

You would think so, but look at Kansas. As dirty as they are they'll probably still sign two or three McDAAs.
Nah the blue bloods essentially have immunity because of the $$ they bring in to the NCAA..

Dallan ‘Deebo’ Coleman is still planning a visit to Ames, though more high level schools are getting involved.
https://n.rivals.com/content/prospects/2021/dallan-deebo-coleman-233692

https://stockrisers.com/2020/03/11/...lks-recruitment-planning-two-official-visits/

Who is Dallan Coleman as a basketball player? he gave himself a personal scouting report.

“My game? I’m a three-level scorer. Good shooter with range that can stretch defenses. Ability to guard multiple positions. Play at point guard spot and facilitate a offense and get others involved. High IQ and good defender.”

"New programs continue to get involved with the guard prior to AAU ball starting. Louisville and Auburn are among the new programs, he said.

He’s planning official visits to Iowa State and Oklahoma State. Expect a list cut closer to this fall. Recruitment is currently open.

Short update on Alex Fudge.

https://stockrisers.com/2020/03/13/...udge-recaps-visits-and-talks-his-recruitment/

"In addition, Fudge told Stockrisers.com that he’s being heavily recruited by Iowa state, Georgia Tech, USC, Texas A&M, Clemson, Georgia.

Several new programs have gotten involved for the forward who best describes his game as ‘an All Around game, I can play all positions and guard them all. I play above the rim and get to it with no problems. Shot can use some fixing to it. And I go get the ball on the defensive side (blocks)"

Way up there
If you're in western Iowa and can get nebraska public televison, Hunter Sallis is playing for the state title right now. They are a lot of fun to watch. They play Bellevue West, led by Wisconsin recruit Chucky Hepburn. There are 3 or 4 p6 level recruits playing between both teams.

Edit: crazy game, Bellevue West was down 14 early in the 4th but ended the game on a 16-0 run to win by two. Sallis is really good but he missed 6 FT's in that stretch, as a team they missed the last 8 ft's they shot.

JuCo PG, I believe I saw Louisville offered El earlier today too.

@JuCoRecruiting Iowa State has offered El Ellis (6’2, PG, 2021) of Tallahassee CC @TCCeaglesMBB

@JustinRiley I have known El Ellis for some time now, one knock a D1 coach said to me back in AAU was he doesn’t shoot it well enough, Ellis shot 40.3% this season at Tallahassee CC. Went JuCo route and look at his offers now. @_elboogie3

interview with El Ellis.
https://phenomhoopreport.com/elbert...ll-city-while-blowing-up-on-a-national-level/

"PHR: Arizona State, Iowa State, UConn, Louisville, etc…have all offered in the past week. Is this the course you saw your recruitment going when you entered the JUCO ranks?

Ellis: Honestly, I didn’t expect it to be like this, but my coaching staff believed in me and said it would be like this. It’s really a blessing and I am so thankful!

PHR: Obviously, the staff stepped forward today with an NC State offer. Being from the 919, how important is that specific offer for you as it checks a lot of boxes, local, ACC, etc…??

Ellis: Yeah, it means a lot to have an opportunity to play at home. I’m very excited about it honestly!

PHR: At this point in time, with all the offers coming in, what schools are sticking out to you?? What is each of them saying to you that is catching your ear?

Ellis: Really I’m just taking my time with the process and building relationships. A lot of the schools feel like I can come in and really make an impact, help them win right away. They are also really talking to me about helping grow me into a pro."

Not too much new on El here but does include some highlights.

https://basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/starting-five-nba-draft-uncertainty-recruiting-updates

"It usually takes a little longer for junior college players to see their recruitments take off. At least until the summer before their sophomore seasons. But North Carolina native and Tallahassee (Fla.) Community College combo guard El Ellis is an exception to the rule.
Because Ellis, well, his recruitment is booming right now.
After averaging just over 14 points and four assists per game while being named the Panhandle Conference Freshman of the Year, Ellis has been stacking up offers at a rapid pace.
A scorer with bounce and quickness who shot over 40% from three, Ellis earned offers from DePaul, East Carolina, Mississippi, Nebraska, North Carolina Central, Texas A&M and others during the winter. Of late though, things have really taken off with Arizona State, Connecticut, Iowa State, Louisville and N.C. State all offering scholarships in the past week.
It's going to be a while before Ellis can look to set up any visits, but he's establishing himself early as one of the premier 2021 JC recruits in the country."
