Im hoping if we can get Grill he turns into a more athletic Christopherson. That is something we really miss right now.

Way up there
Fair to say Wheeler would be the best go to scorer when you need a bucket?

Idk I'd go that far, he can get the hoop but a ton of his highlights are of him creating for other people. I'd picture his first couple of years playing similar to Monte's first two, not saying he's going to be Monte but would have a similar role, distributor, opportunistic scorer. Like Monte, I think he'll really come into his own around his jr year.

Grill has a lot more 'bounce' than Matt. IMO, the athletic edge goes to Grill.
Excuse me!?

Good summary.
Wheeler think a shorter but stronger Monte pure pass first PG.
Nadolny agree with the comps, I would say Tre Jackson and him have similar games but is 2 inches taller.

Prohm gets one Wheeler/Nadolny to fill his traditional scoring PG role ISU should be set at PG for a couple of years.

I like the Thomas comp Grill can shoot but not quite at Matt's level. I might comp him to Christoperson. Grill is more athletic than both at the same age. Caleb opened my eyes with a few of his dunks and I think he could be better defensively.
He would fill the need of a developmental shooter who could switch 2-3 and play pg in a pinch.

Im hoping if we can get Grill he turns into a more athletic Christopherson. That is something we really miss right now.

A more athletic version of a career 44.3% three-point shooter (which is, you know, only the highest in program history) is not an unreasonable expectation at all.

Anyone have shooting percentages for these guys? Especially from the 3.

Fyi, both Haliburton and Leach were 43% from the 3 last year. Not sure on TJ.

I agree with the sentiment on here that Wheeler will be more of a distributor in college. It was noted he was a standout in that role at the NBA top 100 camp last June...

One of the top point guards in the camp was Sahvir Wheeler of Houston Christian (Houston), who is only 5-8, but breaks down defenses with his speed and passing. The Texas A&M commit was also a terror on defense and led the camp with 5.2 assists a game.

Not sure on the competition level but for high school ball he was the Texas Private School MVP. Averaged 19 pts, 9asts, and 7 rbs while leading his team to a second consecutive state championship.

2018 Adidas Gauntlet stats (12 game sample):
15.2 ppg, 7.7 apg, 2.8 rbs.

Matt had lots of bounce just never really showed it in game. He was throwing down windmills, and eastbay dunks in CCL warmups a few times.

Matt was a top 50 recruit. If Grill was quite a bit more athletic than him he'd be one of the best prospects in the country.

I think that's greatly oversimplifying. That's like saying TH's ranking was accurate after having the season he did as a freshmen. Some kids are simply overlooked. Grill committed pretty early in the process.

Very true. Not sure where people thought Matt was not athletic. He was really athletic. I don't like the Grill/ Matt comparison though. Matt was considered a top 2 three point shooter in high school. Him and the kid that went to Kansas and transferred to Wichita State. Can't remember his name. Grill is not considered a great three point shooter and more of a combo guard than a shooting guard. Hopefully Grill can turn into a deadly three point shooter.

It seems like Grill is a good three point shooter but not elite like Matt Thomas. He's got plus athleticism though and many commend him for his toughness.
