I think it was kind of mutual and the Kansas staff was honest with him about the prospects of immediate playing time.

Illinois is after him and they have Mac Irvin Fire connections but they also have 3 PG's on the roster (Trent Frazier, Ayo Dosunmo, and Andres Feliz) who are all likely going to be there and seeing playing time Jacobs' freshmen year. I see there were two immediate crystal ball switches to Depaul but there's not much out there on that. Don't think he's taken any visits yet.

They will sell him on Ayo being one and done. The other two I am not sure where they ranked out. Yeah if Illinois really wants him they should be in the driver's seat. They gave up basically THT for Ayo so Mac Irvin needs to deliver.

"Gave up" is not accurate according to THT and his mom.

Well what do you expect them to say. All reports were saying that he was going to commit to Illinois and the Ayo thing played out. I don't want to revise history and I am fairly confident to say that they did give up THT because Ayo didn't want him at Illinois. Either way I am thrilled we got him but to act like that whole Ayo/Mac Irvin Fire thing didn't have something to do with it would be not true.

I've heard different but it doesn't matter.

It seems like it's a trend that we have had top 100 guys kind of pop up out of nowhere and then become our priority, I don't remember Talen or Lindell being the main target for over a year.

Not this again, I assume your waiting him to switch his commitment to the Illini too?

Trust THT and his Mom at their word and the fact he signed rather than a bunch of message board posters rationalizing why he committing to ISU over their school.
ISU is a better program than Illinois, especially for THT's skills he recognized that and really wants to be in Ames playing for Prohm.
It isn't like Illinois has much success, other than Ayo, keeping recruits in state.

It’s not French Canada, but close enough. And you should do it. They have a different view of laws than Americans and I think you’re a person with a flexible mind who could make the change and maybe be better for it.
I actually have been really impressed by a lot of the benefits of working in Canada. Not sure if i'd ever actually do it, but I think Toronto would be an awesome place to live, and the compensate you nicely for being an ex-pat:) wonder if they'll allow me to change my last name to Toussaint. lol

/end my toussaint talk

So, you’re calling one of our players and his mom liars? Simply because you’re “fairly sure” of something? Are you sure you want to go with that?

As far as Jacobs, are you guys watching his film—or just looking at his rating? I haven’t seen video of the kid from South Carolina, but I’d guess that Jacobs is third on the list. If CSP offers.

Nice player, but not in Lindell or KyKy’s class.

I’m saying they said the right things but I don’t believe it

Speaking of Video how about one of Lindell vs Markese. Good game for both players

As for who is better I'll always defer to the staffs evaluation but for the video i've seen Jacobs is very athletic, good size for his age (though under 6') and can hit the 3. I would say his release looks a little slow but good form. MJ is a very good dunker for his size.

I still think think that the priority is Tandy, but I can fully understand the interest in Jacobs if KyKy draws out his recruitment. Either would be a very good get for ISU,
.
BTW - Rivals currently has their commitment Futurecast pick for KyKy Tandy in for ISU,

Thoughts on taking Jackson before Tandy visits? I'm not overly impressed with Jackson myself.

Maybe this is why the set up a visit with Tre before Tandy? Or another possibility is that they would take both.

I will trust the staff on the evaluation and fit for the team. Considering the visits for both are just days apart I think the staff will hold off accepting an commitment until Tandy's is completed. KyKy's visit dates (mid-week) also makes me think both parties want a decision on ISU early and it was the only date that worked for KT in Sept. I don't think the staff wanted to have Tre visit and hold of on accepting a possible commitment into Oct or beyond.

As for Crystal Balls it is very common for the experts to pick there's just before a OV. Rivals just picked Tandy for ISU in theirs.
I don't think the staff is looking to take both right now. They will wait until the spring to add another guard is Lindell decides to go pro (seems likely but not for a lock).

I would be fine to take both, but the logistics of such would be tricky. I trust the staff to move the pieces on the board to come out with the best option.

I will admit that I have wanted Tandy pretty bad for a long time, though.

He takes over Wigginton's spot in the rotation perfectly.

Tandy/Horton-Tucker/Leech/Young/Lard two years from now, plus some nice bench depth from Nixon, Jacobson, and a few of the other underclassmen, is a good lineup.
