If you had your choice of 1, though, who would you pick?
I'd say Stokes because we need a big and I think we can get a really good PG the following year or via. juco. DJ will be here next year to bridge the gap.

If I could pick one of them, I'd choose Stokes. Having that enforcer down low would be huge in B12 and tourney play. With what we have now and potential JuCo/transfers I don't think Wigginton would make as big of an impact at guard as Stokes would with his size.

Wigginton (or Sexton).
Prohm system highlights the PG and getting one of those two at that caliber would really set up the program once Monte leaves. The staffs focus on recruiting PG's in this year and next is pretty appearent and indicates the importance of a top flight floor general.
Luckily this isn't an either question, room for both.

TBH I would have said Wigginton, but I completely agree with/understand the choice to go with stokes. Which was the reason why I asked the question. Now that we have a guard in place, as well as DJ coming back, the matter of need comes more to the front than before. I think it is obvious that Wigginton is the better prospect right now, but ISU has always struggled to bring in solid rim-protecting/enforcer guys and landing one like Stokes would be huge! I am of the majority and think that either/or of these guys will be a huge get, but my fan self wants Wigginton.

Since the road to winning a Big12 regular season championship goes through KU, I want Stokes. IMO to be an effective road team we need 4 high quality post players. Guard play is important, but I think there are more high quality guards available either HS, JUCO or TFR.
I'm still unsure how to wrap my mind around Niang not playing for us anymore.

Im still trying to wrap my head around this. When Grayer left it was tough..but it was before media hype and television really ( I still remember driving over to Newton one night to watch Wayman Tisdale and Oklahoma play Iowa State on a closed circuit TV in some hotel Ballroom and it was a huge deal to get that feed at the time)
Hoiberg was tougher because we all knew what he meant to the school and the area.

George's on another level from that I think. Because he put us on the map nationally and we had legitimate feelings that we could compete for a national championship. Going to be tough without the big fella out there that's for sure

You want the best player if you have to choose. Wigginton is by far the best recruit and the offense is a guard driven offense. it's not like Stokes is some athletic 7 footer. They could get a grad transfer big that would be better.
