Regarding the Big 10/SEC gripe. I have not seen the B10 get much, if any love for basketball this year. SEC does, but they deserve it this season. Objectively, they are the vest conference. Most years it is the Big 12 but this year it’s the SEC.
The thing with the Big 10 is they are constantly getting the "benefit of the doubt" with the "eye test". Right now they have six AP Top 25 teams and I'm not convinced any of them are all that good. Certainly none of them are decisively better than unranked Texas Tech.

All 8 deep better play perfect games every time or they might see themselves called out by somebody. SMH. Great win. Onto the next.

Sure. But the reason he doesn’t impact the box score much is he airballs wide open threes late in games like today. He is decent. But he was not good late in the game today, and other players also play D and do other “non box score” things. We should have taken him out.

By the way Tech keep going at him in OT and and scored every time they did. Those points actually were reflected in the box score.
Heise led both teams in rebounding. I'd say that was a huge part of our win. Besides his 9 rebounds and 2 assists, he went 1/6 from the field. In other words, he only put up 5 shots the entire game which did not go in, and you could argue 3 of those missed shots were cancelled by the 3 offensive rebounds he came up with.

A player's impact on winning goes far beyond their shooting percentage. I trust that TJ and his staff have a much better grasp on which players will help us most on any given night.

I think Tech is good and has really grown as a team. But they simply haven’t built a resume yet.

This is a fair response, and I was probably a bit hyperbolic. I only meant that it seems that this win is not going to get the credit it deserves; at least not in the short term.
When you are in the Top 3 - they expect you to get tough road wins like this. We aren’t used to being in this position.

Plus - what credit are you expecting? We are likely moving up to #2 in the nation due to this win. There isn’t much room to go up from here!

Yeah ge rebounded well. He always gets after it like that. My point was he was not playing well in OT and it seemed like it was time for a substitution. He has 4 fouls and was likely tired.

That’s a separate thing from him rebounding well over the course of the game.

For all the crying about Jefferson traveling, did anyone notice he got bumped when he received the pass? No bump, no feet shuffle.
I haven't read other posts about this, but I thought that Jefferson bobbled the ball while he shuffled his feet. The pass from Lipsey almost got past him so he didn't catch it clean. So if you don't have firm possession of the ball, it can't be traveling.

It is hard to rank us #1 when the only team above us is someone we lost head-to-head against, even though I think our resume is a little better than Auburn's right now. I expect we'll at least get some #1 votes, which is cool.
We got a 1 vote earlier this year, I think after the Marquette win

So many reasons that was the right no call. Did he catch it in the air? Did he have full possession? As you said, was he bumped off?
People tend to focus on the last disputable play when complaining when they should be focusing on the crazy missed free throws by their top shooters.

I'm starting to get worried about getting screwed out of a 1 seed. Duke and at least one out of the SEC are going to get one. Odds are the SEC gets two. Very unlikely the Big 12 gets two. Which means it's us or Houston potentially. We may need to win that game at Houston.

Message received loud and clear guys. Absolutely zero criticizing of any player that shoots 1-6, airballs a 3 and fouls out while giving up 4 straight points in OT . Got it!

This is dumb. Criticism is fine but you are constantly negative no matter what happens.

Do you understand there is a difference between “Heise and Gilbert were terrible” (they weren’t) and “Heise needs to give us more offensively or not put up 6 shots per game”?? Heise helped hold their best player in check and got 9 rebounds.

There is more nuance to a game than how many points you scored or how good your shooting percentage was.

Oh look, now he's got his feelings hurt. So sad.

Can you be specific about which "4 points in OT" that Heise personally gave up with "no resistance"? Thanks
No, I'm moving on to Kansas.

I guess it's perfectly fine for posters in the football thread to whine and complain for months upon end about SEC this, Big 10 that, everything is so unfair, Arizona St was national champs if not for the refs, ESPN is biased, im never watching the playoffs again, but anyone says one word about a playing having a poor game then it's not acceptable.

Some of you need to take heed of this in bold. It shouldn't be hard to understand, but for some it obviously is.
