Only way EIU wins this game is they have to go off making 3 pointers, like 12 or more, and get to the foul line and double up ISU from that. Make more than we shoot by 10 or so. So they have to bring their A+ game and ISU has to bring their C level game. We bring our A or B game it will not matter what EIU is doing.

EIU is just not real talented, and have not been shooting the ball well, they lucked out and hit a fall away 3 pointer to beat NW, but did have a nice comeback before they lost to Michigan. They have beaten no one of record so far this season, and they would love nothing more to beat a top ranked team in their building to increase their chances of making the dance. We have to win the first 2/3 minutes of each half.

Fortunately TJ's teams rarely give you that kind of vibe. The last couple years typically when we lose it just isn't our night.
Yeah even in 2022 it didn't come down to effort it came down to us being a bad offensive team, us playing horrible offense, and Iowa shooting the crap out of the ball.

Definitely agree. If we shoot below 30% from three and put up 25 or more, we will lose tonight. Add onto that if we get 10 or less FT attempts, we will also lose.

I expect a heavy dose of zone tonight from Iowa. They don't have the personnel to keep our guards out of the lane. Pack in a zone and hope we miss a bunch of 3s.

We've gotta be patient, move the ball, and hit the boards hard. There will be plenty of opportunities for offensive rebounds tonight.

Yep and they just packed the lane and said beat us from three. We are too balance for them to deploy that strategy and if they do it could be a night for Mommy and CuJo.

Definitely. You said it perfectly. And if we can knock down some open threes and make them have to guard us man to man, it's over.

My wife's company decided to do an impromptu Christmas party at the last minute and picked tonight at 6 to do it :mad::mad:. They've only done one Christmas party in the 7 years or so that she has worked there. Got that news right after the Big 12 championship game, which was really the icing on that **** sandwich of a day.

So I'm mostly out here pretending that the game isn't happening.
Oh man I love a good office xmas party, have a few drinks and enjoy! Maybe they have a tv in the office

Iowa was 12/23(!) from 3 in that 2022 game. (ISU was 3/22 lol). If they do that tonight they’ll win and we can only roll our eyes and tip our caps. As Williams has said this won’t be a bad loss. We just move on with much bigger fish to fry down the road.
IIRC, Iowa hadn't shot well from 3 up to that point that season. And TJ basically said lets sag off and let them shoot, and they inexplicably went ham from 3 right out the gate. Perkins(!) and C-Mac(!!!) each hit 2 threes before the 2nd media timeout. C-MAC!!!!!

Got out to like 25-5 (checked it was 26-4!), Iowa had a 90% win probability 4.5 minutes into the game. ISU just never could come back from that point, zero offensive firepower on that team - shot 3 of 22 from 3pt trying to catch up. That's a Masonry Hall of Fame performance.

Nothin' like fellow drunk employees gettin' jiggy with each other.

I went to one of those many years ago and ended up making out with 3 of my co-workers that night.

Man I don't know. Last year our defense had Iowa so freaking flustered. What doesn't get talked about enough is that when you are able to speed teams up even the wide open 3's from skip passes or quick reversals feel contested. Iowa getting hot from three will only matter if we can't score. We should be able to get enough stops and score enough points to pull away in this one. The key is to not let Iowa get up by double digits in the first 10 minutes. If you put Iowa in a position where they just need to trade baskets with you it's tough to come back when they are "on". This Iowa team has been susceptible to significant scoring droughts too where I feel like Iowa State is so dang balanced we have multiple ways to stop a run.
True. It was just a thought.

One thing is, if we do fall behind a little, we actually have a good enough offense to mount a comeback, unlike recent years.

Unfortunately I was in Carver for that. Still gives me nightmares.

I'm looking forward to this. It's hard to rebound out of a zone, and they are bad at rebounding anyway, so we should be able to crash the glass really well.

Plus we've got 3 guys that will just kill them from the high post against a traditional 2-3, Milan more than anyone. Just swing the ball a couple times, throw it to Milan at the FT line and let him shoot turnarounds from there all day.

Then when Milan comes out, throw it to Jefferson in the high post and either make the middle big come up and he'll dump it down to Jackson, or the middle stays with Jackson and he drives it to the other side.

I'd also like to see Heise and Nojus knock down a couple threes each from the corner.

We've struggled the last couple years at times against a zone - but I don't see it this year.

Pretty sure 2 years ago after the loss, TJ said in the press conference you'll never see that happen again under him.

TJ was just spotted getting himself juiced up for the game.

Let me help you with some options:
* consider phoning in a party-venue bomb-threat
* bribe her with a Mediterranean Cruise, etc.
* tell her you've gone militant atheist and on that basis cannot attend
* tell her to go with her BF
