Yeah the key with our bigs defensively is STAY DOWN. Freeman is going to go into your chest with a dribble and then immediately pump fake. Stay down and make him finish a contested shot.
Still frustrated by the women’s game. Hope we beat the crap out of the hawks tonight!
Exactly, What I hate after watching a handful of iowa highlights this year is they get some of the softest AND1 calls possible. They shot fake about 12 times, take some soft contact, make the layup and the foul.
Just stay straight up and hold your ground.
They get a lot of calls because their players comically flop around all game. I can't ******* stand their basketball program lol. They are the whiniest little ******* in the entire country and it all stems from Fran. A fun game I like to play when watching them is to count how many times you see one of their players raise their arms up with their palms towards the sky. It's incredible.
Iowa is going to try and full court press us pretty much all game in an attempt to frustrate us. Probably more nervous about this game than I need to be, but Sandfort or Dix could go off if we don’t guard the perimeter.
I hate this game. History says we don’t play well and they shoot lights out and we lose. But we are a better team than last year and we spanked them in Ames.
Iowa only full court presses when there is a dead ball and we'll see it tonight. Teams that don't have good ball handlers and are poor decision makers fall right into their trap and teams that are the opposite carve it up easily.
That won’t go over well for Iowa. Obviously we have many great ball handlers and we have bigs that are able to run.
To me it’s to not help on the interior. Iowa loves to drive and dish. They are looking to pass not finish. Don’t leave your guy open by helping on the drive.
Definitely. Their guards aren't trying to get to the rim and I'd gladly take a contested two at the rim than a slightly open three.
The two things I worry about in this game are:
- Iowa going crazy from 3
- foul trouble from Dishon and Gilbert
I haven't looked at a breakdown, but it seems like we get called for more charges versus Iowa than most teams. Gilbert is gonna be who he is and drive hard, but he can't draw 2 early fouls and ride the bench for most of the first half.
I'm sure it will get uncomfortable at times, but I think we win 88-76
