Agree. Demin is softer than a pillow. No idea how Demin is considered a lottery pick.
We are not near as good on defense as last year. Let alone Houston. Bottom line we gave up 96. Houston gave up 54.I'd like to think that Gilbert & Lipsey would have made a difference in beating BYU.
But our defense isn't on the same level as UH this year. Houston plays defense with their feet and bodies. We play with our bodies and hands. The other big difference is we don't have a rotation player that plays above the rim. Heise's probably our best. Houston has 4 or 5 guys that can contest shots and go get rebounds.
Some of that is luck but most of it is ‘you are correct.’We are not near as good on defense as last year. Let alone Houston. Bottom line we gave up 96. Houston gave up 54.
That is what the numbers appear to suggest!so does that mean Houston's def is twice as good as ours when we are missing Lipsey?
it appears the basket looks really big to BYU when we play them....or maybe their 3 point mojo just ran out? hard to tell. That is what the numbers appear to suggest!
ISU gave BYU a lot of good 3-pt looks.it appears the basket looks really big to BYU when we play them....or maybe their 3 point mojo just ran out? hard to tell.
Zone and it scares the hell out of me.ISU gave BYU a lot of good 3-pt looks.
I think ISU needs a "Plan B" for defense in the tourney. If the trapping defense is giving up 3's, ISU needs to be ready to make adjustments.
We have been giving great looks to everyone on the perimeter this season. Not sure what happened to our perimeter defense from last year but it could hurt us in the tourney. One team gets hot it’s over.ISU gave BYU a lot of good 3-pt looks.

It would be nice for sure but easier said than done. If there was an effective "let's just do this" approach instead, I'm sure the coaches would give it a go.ISU gave BYU a lot of good 3-pt looks.

I think it's because our two best perimeter defenders (Tamin and Keshon) haven't been 100% for most of the year, and the bigs aren't as mobile/versatile as last year. Rob Jones was pretty elite at switching out on a Big 12 guard and somehow not getting burned, and there's no Hason Ward-type athlete on this roster. We have been giving great looks to everyone on the perimeter this season. And Houston was missing Roberts tonight…so does that mean Houston's def is twice as good as ours when we are missing Lipsey?

yeah weren't super effective at running other defenses. I guess when we ran zone for a few plays against BYU, it kind of made them scratch their head, and got them out of their rhythm for a bit. But it didn't last.It would be nice for sure but easier said than done. If there was an effective "let's just do this" approach instead, I'm sure the coaches would give it a go.
It's also kind of like all the "let's run some 4-3" chatter in football. When you focus practice- and personnel-wise on one defense, it's hard to also be really good at another defense. A bit of a zero-sum game.
so more than twice as good?...uggg I liked it when we were ranked 2nd and everyone was healthy. And Houston was missing Roberts tonight…
AGREE with the super bowl stuff. 3 pointers kill us.Doesnt that fall on our defense a little or are they missing decently open 3 pointers? I also think we are their super bowl a bit.
I remember people #itching about the 3-point defense last year. Really all 3 previous TJ years. Giving up 3s is a consequence of the defense that pressures everywhere. Most times it doesn't result in 18-36.We have been giving great looks to everyone on the perimeter this season.
