But can we all agree on that?

I was prepared to be humbled today, but these guys belong. If we're merely bad from three instead of abysmal, we're pushing Baylor to the limit. I'm not ready to concede that we aren't top ten.
We have legit earned that ranking. Nova lost to Baylor by 20 and fell only a few spots to 9th the next week. We deserve something similar.

Are we the 10th best team? Not in my opinion, but NOT because we lost. The offensive limitations likely to just have too many games in which we're "had more shots fallen" imo.

Not a stat you will see in the box score, but we did an awesome job at winning 50/50 loose balls today. Sometimes that’s luck, today it was all about effort. They made their own luck. If they win 50/50s like that the rest of the year, I think we’ll be happy with the conference record.

Will BU shoot that many well-defended clutch shots the rest of the year? Heck will they shoot 50%+ against defenses that are not as good as ISU’s the rest of the year? If they do, they are definitely odds-on-favorite to repeat as national champs. Any Cyclone loss stings - but EXTREMELY proud of these guys for never quitting - even til the last horn. Had Grill’s 3ptr gone in to cut the margin to 3 - who knows, maybe the noose and pressure causes BU to unravel? Will be interesting to see how we fare in our rematch with them in Wacko.

once they all drop the last bit of last season’s data I’ll go back to looking more at a mix of computer rankings anyway.

The Big 12 is usually the only league with 70% or 80% good teams. Human polling is pretty worthless for our conference with that reality.

One of the first times in a really long time that I don't really feel that bad about a loss. Of course a win would have been preferable, but even in a loss that was one hell of a game they played today.
One of the first games in which we "could" have won, there were "what-ifs", but didn't in which it is not upsetting.

For me, part of that is because of the last two years. As much as I don't believe in long rebuilds in CBB, it is impossible to ignore the starting point.

The second part is Baylor is just that good. I don't know what their "A" game is, but if it is notably better than that, then Covid is the only thing stopping them from repeating. I don't think we had our "A" game, maybe B+ when you consider a lot of it was Baylor.
