Have noticed a couple other forums give the option for having a site notification for when your post is quotes. Acts much like the rep or likes notifications here.

Would be much handier notification than either of those, IMO. Thoughts?

Some good and bad with this.

Good because you get to see what people think of your post

Bad because it'll likely lead to more arguing

Good idea, the only problem with it i would guess would be that it would take server resources.

Bad idea.

I agree. If you want to see if someone's quoted your post, read the thread rather than just skipping over everything to see what the response to your post is. I realize people probably do this already, but this just makes it easier and encourages a jumble of one-on-one conversations rather than a group discussion.

I go both ways on this. It just promotes post-whoring for likes/quotes/etc, however sometimes i post specific questions within a thread and it would be nice to know if anyone ever responded. Most of the time it falls off my radar and I'm off to something else.

There is a commercial option, but absent that it's a hell of a lot of code due to how vBulletin handles notifications. It's actually not the notification that's the problem, it's when you have 2 or more that it becomes painful. I worked on an option a few months ago but got buried in work, I can try dusting it off.

Threads here can get so far off topic and long that sometimes going through all those posts is just painful.

It's a good idea and you should be able to be notified if you want to be.

I now imagine you with a stack of dusty site improvements on the side of your desk.
