Yes the logical answer is just to nut up and play the game. If your better you should win. They should probably take UNI and Arkansas State off their nonconference schedule also. Who knows what goes through the minds of TavernHawks and TrailerHawks though.

What's funnier than an ISU fan taking a jab at Iowa for nearly losing to UNI? 1 time out of a million where Iowa doesn't absolutely destroy UNI and ISU fan pulls this crap. Dude, the last time you played UNI........you lost. And I was at an ISU-UNI game sometime in the 1990's where ISU lost too.

The really funny thing is, the last time UNI beat us, we beat you, and we really sucked!

It wasn't a jab at nearly losing to UNI. It's your logic. You guys nearly lost 2 complete cupcake games last year in non-conf. Maybe you shouldn't play outta conference.

Well, we are just going to have to disagree on the change of atmosphere in Iowa City. Did you ever think that maybe you feel that way because you're an ISU fan?

PSU & OSU (as you mentioned), Wisconsin, Michigan, Minnesota (not lately, but usually), all have an equal or better atmosphere than the ISU game. You could probably even throw Michigan State or Illinois into that category depending on the year.

Either way I think you are totally overselling the fact that ISU brings fans to Iowa City. Kinnick will not have a problem selling out any game for the foreseeable future. And that is what matters. I'm sure Iowa City enjoys having the extra fans, but its not as big of a factor as you make it out to be.

As far as ISU being a more likely regionally televised game, you could not be more off base. No one outside of Iowa cares about the Iowa vs ISU game. Over the last ten years Mizzou has seen more success than ISU, and they bring both Kansas City and St. Louis. Both of which would be included in a regionally televised game.

Yep, and here comes the ol' company line. "We don't care about ISU and you guys are probably our 5th or 6th biggest rivalry. Iowa fans get more excited to see Wisconsin come into town than ISU".

I've heard it so many times it's almost cliche now. Thanks for bringing it up again. BTW, please tell me that you're actually from Vail, IA. That would only add to the humor.

ISU is a big rival for Iowa. It's our biggest individual rivalry. What you're not understanding is it's just never our biggest game. I know you don't understand what it's like to compete for conference titles and major bowls, but a game against a mediocre opponent the 2nd week of the season is NEVER a bigger game than the ones against quality opponents in conference when you are contending for those sort of things.

And the Iowa-ISU game at Kinnick is never even close to being our best atmosphere of the season at home. Even in years where we've been lousy, it still hasn't been. It's a fact. The ISU game is typically about the 3rd best atmosphere. When we play Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, or Wisconsin we always have a much better atmosphere than ISU. Iowa-ISU games are fun and it's a nice rivalry. But the crowd just doesn't get loud and rowdy for that game like they do some other games. If you don't want to believe that, that's fine. You're wrong and you're entitled to being wrong. Lord knows there's not a lot of right posts on this board.......

Now, I've been to quite a few non-Iowa games at Trice too. And I'm not gonna lie........that's just not a very good atmosphere for football unless you're playing Iowa (though I've never been to an ISU-Nebraska game). It's too family friendly. Not rowdy. No one seems to really be jumping around much. I've seen Texas, Texas A&M (twice), Oklahoma, Missouri, and a few other teams throughout the years at Trice besides Iowa and the Iowa game is simply the only game where there's any atmosphere whatsoever. Sorry, but your crowd really only gets into the game for Iowa. I've been there enough to make that statement.

I think he went overboard a bit but he wasn't completely off base. It really depends on the year but for example this year I could easily see the ISU game being 3-4 in terms of atmosphere and importance. The Iowa-ISU game will probably bring in the largest numbers of overall fans to Iowa City though.

It's more than likely that the Wisconsin and OSU games will have a better "atmosphere" because those are the two other teams that are being picked to win the conference.

LOL, then they would actually have a chance at going undefeated if tOSU is rotated off the schedule. Credit to KF, because he's got that conference bewildered. No one knows what to do once their running game is shut down.

It's amazing how many more NFL QB's are from the big-10 than the Big-12 yet you guys constantly take jabs at our passing games.

I don't know if that's more hilarious than fans of a team like ISU taking constant shots at a far superior football program like Iowa. Either way, I can't stop laughing.

I suppose this means you have never taken a shot at Ohio State for sucking in BCS games?

No. Why would I? It's a heck of an accomplishment to make it to a BCS and unless you're in the BCS, I don't really see where you can take jabs at another team that is.......even if they got rolled.

Going to the BCS and getting beat is still a lot better than going to some meaningless minor bowl game that nobody watches or cares about.

I would trade Ohio State's position for ISU's anyday, I just find it hard to believe you've NEVER made fun of USC, Florida, Texas, or Ohio State... among others, since you seem to be of the belief that fans can't take shots at any team that is better than their own.

Isu loses to every conference team except baylor more than iowa. why drop a good televised rivalry game they win regularly to play a dakota school that will draw about 30k fans on a nice day?

You beat Iowa regularly? Umm......you beat Iowa regularly from 1998-2002. Outside of that stretch you have actually lost to Iowa regularly.

What games are you watching?

Funny, I don't think that we're the only ones taking jabs at "your" passing games. Luckily for your hokeyes, Nebraska will fit right in! I'm sure Pelini can't wait to jump into Big 11 Ball so that he can quit worrying about defending the Sam Bradfords, Colt McCoys and Graham Harrells (or whoever TT has starting) of the world. Hey, more power to KF. If I were him, I'd do the same thing!

I could throw for 3,500 yards against Big-12 defenses.

Gotta love ISU fans riding the coattails of the other teams in the Big-12. It's just a shame they have no part in the success or talent of the league. Take all the jabs you want at the Big-10, but the fact of the matter is you'd still finish at the bottom of the league almost every year.

It will be interesting. Obviously the Big 10 doesn't have the passing attacks that they've been used to seeing in the Big 12. The Big 10's rush-first philosophy could play into Nebraska's defensive philosophy nicely for the Huskers. Looking forward to seeing in unfold.

Pretty spot on. It's hard for me to see an ISU fan say "I've been to Kinnick for games other than ISU and the atmophere isn't nearly as good."

You also have no rooting interest - no dog in the fight, so it makes sense that in your mind, the atmosphere wouldn't be that great.
