You sit there and says over and over the ISU-Iowa game doesnt benefit Iowa. When 24 of the last 25 games were won by the better team. You have such an elitiest view of the U of I vs ISU, it makes me sick. Fans like you are the reason I hope Iowa dont give a **** about Iowa. Hell any preseason game Iowa plays is a risk. Iowa has had a lot of close calls and non conference losses to teams worse than ISU over the years. It is not like Iowa is playing and losing to some bottom of the pack MAC school. ISU is in a BCS conference and plays some good schools every year, something that helps Iowa in the big picture. ISU has had a better run the NWern the past few years, yet Iowa struggles vs them. ISU has had a better run than Indiana over the years and yet Iowa loses to them. Should Iowa stop playing those teams. Maybe Iowa should just play the upper 6 teams in the Big 10. Iowa playing ISU benefits them more than playing some no name school. What is wrong with playing a good team earily to get issues fixed. I know you and Iowa fans think they shoul be playing some big name school, but do the big name schools want to play Iowa. Hell playing this game for ISU is a risk, losing this game can cost ISU a bowl game, they could be playing some no name school and get a sure W. Teams at the level Iowa thinks it is on need to play games like this. ISU has a budget that is very small compaired to Iowa, yet their athletic dept is in just as good of shape if not better shape than Iowa's. Just think what ISU could do with Iowa's athletic budget.

Basketball was poor (although, not as bad as Iowa), football average, but the Director's Cup thing indicates better overall health.

Is it relevant? Well, that's not for me to decide. If I had a guess, though, I would wager that most Iowa and ISU fans don't even know what the Director's Cup is.

Without looking it up tell me what place ISU finished in the directors cup the last five years. Then tell me what their football record has been for each of the last five years. Which was easier?

If you traveled across Iowa talking to people on the street and asked every person you met what Iowa or ISU's standing was in the directors cup was how many of them do you think could answer correctly? But I bet 75% could tell me how many games the team won in football, or that both teams weren't very good in basketball.

Tell me what percentage of fans know their teams standings in the Directors Cup. Or hell, what percentage of fans even know what the Directors Cup is?

I don't have to tell you that Iowa fans like to brag about their athletic dept (and dare I say embellish a little) but even they didn't brag about beating ISU in the Director's Cup every year (until this one)
