I just looked, I have the optical set to 5.1, and my receiver detects it as DD. During THX movies, I can hear the 5 discreet channels just like it should. I can also hear sound out of the HDMI port. It is set to linear 2 ch 44hz.


EDIT: Ok, so I am wrong. I think my 5 year olds have been setting it however they need to use it.

I have mine set up so all the sound goes to the TV, then the TV audio out goes to the receiver.

That way I don't have to mess with 1000 remotes depending on what I am using.
