What I like about him especially is that he has had a lot of personal success (Rhodes scholar, war vet with honors, graduated from Oxford, award-winning football star) that can inspire everyone from the high-achieving students to the high-achieving athletes. He is young enough that he can relate on a personal level, and I think that would help bring in new money to the university.
Impressive resume.

I'm assuming you have no idea if he is s finalist, right?

I'd love to see him interviewed but I don't trust the BOR enough.

Nope, no idea at all. I was just looking through a bunch of lists of presidents at smaller universities, and researching their pedigrees. I liked him a whole bunch.

I agree. It's been a while since a state university has had a minority or women as president in Iowa. So hopefully some of our candidates are that.

Back when leath quit, there was talk of s current provost at Iowa state (former engineering prof) being interested. Hope he is s finalist too.

I hope that the best candidates are chosen, regardless of sex, race, religion or any other categorization you want to put someone in.

I heard pollard is leading the search and he wants to hire from within or hire a lesser name externally to keep the salary cheaper.

People forget he's an accountant at heart.

I have heard that Wickert is well-regarded on campus, is that not true for you?

I don't want to make him sound bad in the general forum, but I know he really recently made a decision regarding a minority group's program with which I would never agree.
