I fully believe that Montgomery throwing a punch in the Baylor game pulled him from any consideration of being 1st team.

Way up there
I don't think Barnes or Montgomery had amazing seasons but both had better years than Hill and Pooka. Hill was a no show in some big games.

You can make a very legit argument that the 1st and 2nd team RBs could easily be reversed. Pooka in particular, has a great skill set and is dangerous as a runner and receiver, but I wouldn't take him as an every down back over either of the 2nd teamers.

Barnes should have made it over Hill. Can't really argue with Pooka. Statistically, Montgomery and Hill are fairly indistinguishable, and (thus far) they have both missed a similar amount of time due to injury/canceled game.

Pooka wasn't even the best RB on Kansas against us. The other KU back played more and did better against us.

Pooka went for 252 and 2 TDs versus Oklahoma. Even though OU's defense if terrible, I guarantee that was a huge factor. He also put up really good numbers on a bad KU team.

However, if you were to ask coaches which running back they'd take on their team first, I'd be surprised if it wasn't Montgomery or Barnes

By definition, a award of this type that puts Pooka Williams ahead of David Montgomery is worthless and nobody should waste their time complaining about it.

You do realize the coaches voted on this?

I assume it was a combination of a token rep to an improved KU team and a reflection of David losing his cool and getting into the fight that factored in.

Butler was for me the worst snub on our team. I’m going to really miss watching him when he’s done. I think Montgomery deserved it still, but statistically I’m not surprised even though every single yard he earned this year was hard earned.

Did the coaches just look at YPC for eveyone and then vote? Because thats the only statistic I can see where those two are better than Barnes and Montgomery.

Barnes ability to shoot a basketball should have put him on the first team over any of the others that only play football

If you follow this board you know it was due to our lack of Offensive Coordinator that kept Montgomery and Butler off first team. I guess they are too un-coordinated. Boda- Bing!!
