The scheduling "mess-ingham" is very small factor in the long term decision for the future of an athletics department. UND got an invite to the Big Sky and they took it. I can about guarantee you if USD and SDSU had the oppurtunity to join all sports conferences they would have as well. UND ended up in a much better all around conference and I am guessing that USD wishes they would have ended up there as well.

To be honest this thread really isnt anything. Just lakes making stupid statements and us calling him out on it.

There is a separate board for In-State Rivals. And one for Big XII Conference. Lakes is annoying but at least his posts have to do with the Bison and the upcoming game......kind of.

Section Sisters generally just post negatively about Iowa State......or try to use an end around to discuss Iowa......which should take place on the In-State Rivals Board.

I will not argue.. but the facts are USD did have a big sky invite. They were supposed to be _ND's travel partner. They shunned the big sky.

"A last-minute change of heart is keeping the University of South Dakota out of the Big Sky Conference and casting a shadow on its super-conference plans. On Monday it was announced that Southern Utah and North Dakota had accepted invitations to join the Big Sky, with South Dakota's addition only a formality.

It turned out to be much more.

Big Sky commissioner Doug Fulerton confirmed late Wednesday night that South Dakota instead accepted an 11th-hour invitation to join the Missouri Valley Conference."

source.. http://missoulian.com/sports/colleg...cle_8da06c90-e7cf-11df-988e-001cc4c03286.html

I am sure there are better sources.. first one that popped up on bing.. now I gotta get to work.

OK I stand corrected on the USD angle. But it still doesn't change the fact that UND ended up in a much better conference than what it's former NCC counterparts did. Football is most likely a wash but all other sports and stability Big Sky>Summit.

I am just calling someone out on really bad logic, doesn't matter if it is lakes, a halk fan, or an ISU fan.

Good info Bison1, I like to hear the back-story. Don't mind the guys that think because they went to a big school, they are big themselves.

Oh, there's a fair amount of condescension and cockiness from the Cyclone side also...
Yes and no. I believe every school are going to have their cocky, trolls out there. This seems to be different. There is a lot more people that seem to be cockier. At least we can say that we are going to suck! haha I mean for them, they lost a whole bunch of people but yet are like, it won't be any different from last year. I have to disagree with that! I'd much rather say that we are a more passionate fans then anything.

There was a comment on the espn page about this game being the biggest crowd for ISU this season, and if they opened up more tickets it would sell out easy. My god those glorified high school fans are stupid.

Using that logic Minnesota should be one of the best teams in the nation. My statement remains true, you were **** before Hayden, what you did in the 20's 30's and 50's has no impact on today.

So why does what Iowa did in the 60's and 70's have any impact on today? Hayden got to Iowa 35 years ago and the program has been good to very good ever since. Is that recent enough for you?

The years Iowa was "knocking on the door of a BCS title game" were the result of weak Big 10 schedules due to unbalanced conference scheduling. Now that they have to go through a Big 10 Title game and a playoff, they don't have a chance.

False, in 2009 Iowa played at PSU, OSU, MSU and Wisconsin. Purdue and Illinois were not on Iowa's B1G schedule.

The point was if Hayden can do it at Iowa, it can be done at ISU. Not that big of a stretch. Look at KSU before, after, and again now with Bill Snyder. CPR may not be the guy, but he may. ISU has changed it's emphasis on football, FOF, SEZ, etc. And yes we are treading water with the big boys but are on par with many of the Power 5 teams. Now let's get back to allowing the NDSU faithful treat us like the Hawk faithful. Take your arguments about Iowa to the In State rivals forum.

Did you take into account that Brock Jensen is now back sacking groceries at the local Hornbacher's?

Now... Does who ever this guy is manage to actually play in a game before he is also cut? I bet... No.

MSU was not good that year (6-6). Wisconsin was decent and they lost to OSU. So they had 2 good wins vs. Penn State and Wisconsin, and a bad loss to Northwestern. Not exactly knocking on the door of a BCS championship game birth considering they didn't win the conference.

And you expect no drop off from last year, when 8 guys went to the NFL? The 8 replacements are NFL worthy too? Man, I had no idea ndsu was OsU or UT

I have a hard time believing ndsu will be that stout with as many that graduated, and be able to hang with Wimberley, Bibbs, Bundrage, Montgomery, and West. Yes I know our QB is a little question mark, but they will just 'manage' to get the ball to those 5 studs, and we defeat ndsu.

Just writing out the offensive players that will be on the field gets me more pumped for Aug 30!
