I'm in Minnesota and NDSU is 2-0 vs Big 12 in last 4 years and 1-0 vs big 12 in basketball. NDSU could compete day 1 in the big 12
Cloneinwsdm. NDSU would have 22 more scholarships you know. So if we can win with 63, imagine what we'd do with 85

Competing one day and competing for one day are two totally different things. Can they beat Big 12 opponents? Sure they are a good program, so on the right day absolutely they could beat a mid-lower tier big 12 team. However, even with more scholarships they are not competing with the Big 12 week in week out - in the grinder of a conf. season. Look at TCU/WVU as a reference - schools who were successful (very successful prior to joining in TCU's case.)
WVU - 2 years before Big 12: 9-4 (5-2) 1 year prior: 10-3 (5-2) 1st year in Big 12: 7-6 (4-5) 2nd year conf: 4-8 (2-7)
TCU - 2 years before Big 12: 13-0 (8-0) last yr MWC: 11-2 (7-0) 1st year in Big 12: 7-6 (4-5) 2nd year in conf: 4-8 (2-7)
Beating Kansas (hands down worst program in league for years), K-State in a down year for them, and getting whooped by a mediocre 7-6 Iowa State team doesn't make you a big 12 competitor week in week out.
NDSU playing OU, Baylor, OSU, Oklahoma, Texas, TCU, TTU in 7 straight weeks would go 1-6 if they are lucky. There is no North or South in the conf anymore, but we all know the South is better. NDSU best case scenario would be if they averaged a 2-7 conference season year in year out. More likely would be 0-9 or 1-8.
You get no Ferris St, Youngstown St, Indiana St, Furman, Coastal Carolina, Delaware St when you play every week in the Big 12.

No SEC we would take care of business in the big 12 with 22 more schollys. Sell fargo? Culture of winning, loudest stadium in the nation, 30 miles from 1000 lakes and beaches in the summer. (Isu, KU, KSU, OKLA, TCU don't have that) strong economy for jobs, Oil money. Downtown party scene with 30,000 area college students at 50 bars.
