MODs, can we get a merge on these Bassoon threads? One, so we don't have to look at two of them on the front page; but more importantly the merged thread will quite possibly turn into a defacto cage match to the death between PondsBuffalo and BJ, our neighborhood Norse Dakota trolls.

Lets get back to football. Basketball is fun and The BISON are in. I dont predict BB and the game analyzer mechanism isnt set up for the game. Sunday we all find out where we go.

The GAM is a football only tool. Our begining basis in this game analysis will be the cumulative stats from last years 2 common opponents: UNI & KSU.

Everything starts with the O line. But the O line does not exist in a vacuum. Its effectiveness will be determined by the opponents D line. Although ISU would appear to have a size and experience advantage over the BISON O line they match up very well the D line.

I took some time to compare the offensive lines. I got the Cyclone information from the depth chart. The Bison roster was used to compile the NDSU stats.

Iowa State runs pretty big across the line. The starters are tall and big. Tallest is Brock Dangle @ 6-8/303.

We have a few of those type fellows on our O line roster but we look a little shorter and a little lighter. Our listed tackles are 6-6/293 & 6-4/288.

The BISON have 12 returning offensive linemen excluding the TE. ISU has 9.

The defensive lines look similar. The typical BISON D lineman is 6-2/260 and LB is 6-1/220. Not much different for the Cyclones but it does seem the LB are taller and bigger.

All-and-all this looks like a good matchup. I give the Cyclones an edge on the O line mainly due to experience. I also feel they may have an edge at LB.

You may remember, from our last game, the NDSU fumble at the goal line as the first half expired. A critical mistake, it crippled the BISON and deflated the sails. It was a grinding game after that clearly in the hands of the Cyclones. That night the Cyclones had the QB edge. I will let you know what I think about this years big game as soon as research is complete.

I nominate changing the thread titles to something humorous.
