I have to agree with you, a talent gap does seem to exist. In fact earlier in the thread I ran the Game Analyzer Mechanism based on last yrs statistics.

I took down NDSUs stats -14% and increased the ISU stats by +6%. This of course encompasses strength of schedule, as explained in the original post, but that is a derivative of talent viewed as performance over time, I guess?

The GAM is showing a close game, 25.9-22.4 in favor of The BISON.

From here we can adjust inputs, based on observations, to make a very good prediction on this years games.
I think that you aren't accounting for what I think is a jump in Iowa State talent/performance and a drop in NDSU talent/performance.

I think it will be a decent game but it will be a comfortable win for Iowa State.

Good point and that is the overall question.

The biggest loss for The BISON is Offensive tackle Billy Turner. Tylor Gimmstead is another Olineman we will miss. These guys protected the QB and cleared the way for the running backs.

On defense we will miss Mat Drevelow-nose guard and Marcus Willioms and Brendin Peirre bot CB? We should be ok atLB but the Dline lost the NG.

We are also replacing our QB. Our heir apparent doesn't have nearly as much experience as the replacements for those already mentioned.

NDSU has a deep roster and spring/fall practice to answer the questions about the new team.

Wait, depth? :jimlad:

Re: NDSU v Iowa State 2014 (after NDSU wins 3rd title & 43-2!)

Haha. NDSU brought 15,000 to natl champ game, there was only 1 section out of 20,000 for the other team.

why isn't this thread going? You fools actually talking to that other nutcase?

Espn GAMEDAY site of the year disagrees with you. As does 2.5 million that watched NDSU beat Kansas state.

espn spv show puts up NDSU helmet all the time. NDSU BASKETBALL IS 21-6 #43 rpi

The fact that you list all the D 1 teams you've beat in your sig line tells everyone what they need to know about ndsu. You're a community college in Canada.

Actually. Have you beaten all those teams in last 5 years? I'll hang up and listen

There's a reason they didn't stay for the game..

It was never about the actual game... NDSU earned it by beating your conference champion

You mean our 5th place team Bison. Math must not be your strong suit. NDSU would Never beat our conference champion in the same year. By your rationale we beat conference champion Baylor, 2013, in 2012. Brilliant.

KU-2013, 2012, 2011
Minnesota-2009 only because we only played them once in the last 5 years.

K-State-last win was 2007 so you have us there but NDSU plays 1AA teams such as the Indiana States and Missouri States of CFB so its easy to concentrate on the one D1 team you play each year while ISU has D1 power conference teams week in and week out such as Texas, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State to face every week. NDSU is a 1AA powerhouse but only that. When you play Big 12 teams week in and week out and compete, then you can hold a flame to ISU but until then ISU is and always will be better than NDSU.

fwiw, I watched the KSU / NDSU game because one of our conference opponents was playing and it was on a night that didn't have any good games available to watch. Since I simply enjoy college football, I watched the game and I couldn't possibly care less about NDSU.

I'm guessing that of the 2.5 million viewers, people like me were a significant portion.

ISU Phoria, and it was the 1st game on Fox Sports 1 ever. But alas, NDSU has a good track record vs FBS teams 7-3 is not too shabby. Scroll ahead to 5:05 to see what Aug 30 2014 will look like.
