Yea, it isn't about a "legitimate source" telling a random guy at CCL. It's about officially reporting it with your name attached to it. A couple 'nuggets' on a local sports radio show that less than 1% of the public is listening to isn't "being all over it."

Yep. I love CW, Hines, etc. and all their work covering ISU athletics. And I'm sure they know info early and can't report it all the time. But then don't come out later and say that local media was "all over it" when there wasn't a single tweet from that group saying that TJ would be staying. Sure, local media knew what would happen. But the national guys are the ones who broke the news for the rest of us.

This. Tweet it and officially report it or you have nothing. I am not in Des Moines. You didn't report it to me. He did.

Here nor there
What would they gain from that though?

Not that I think the local guys would do this, but I'd imagine it is good to have friends in the industry.

The OP seemed to allude to the local guys frequently getting "out-scooped". He must be too young to remember the silence of what it was like before Hines at the Tribune and the coverage CF provides (for free). Did Rothstein report this first? News spreads so fast now it seems pointless. What really matters is the commentary that follows, and Hines and the CF guys are the first and only source in that regards.

Who cares who reported it first. I'm still going to come to this site for my Cyclone news regardless if CW is scooping the story or not. If something breaks I trust I'll see it on here within 24 hours. It's freakin sports.. you don't need an update by the hour.

You guys should've been here 3 weeks ago.....

I rarely venture out of the off topic threads. Too much bickering for me waste my time on.

CW probably hates me but I have probably read 5 articles ever on here. I don't need commentary or a story. I can get quick facts and reporting from following the writers and reporters on twitter. Same reason why I don't read a news paper and don't listen to the radio much. Hell I don't even need to follow every reporter and writer. One guy "breaks" it and within a minute or two max they are all tweeting it.
