He didn't start the first games at ISU his freshman year, even though (my guy and loyal Cyclone) Mike Warren ended up fourth string by the next year.

You also hear a bigger concern about rookie RBs typically being a possible liability with ball security and pass protection, neither of which have been (or seemingly) should be a problem with DM.

Seems like Cohen and Montgomery could be an ideal combo. Looking forward to watching an ISU player in the NFL that isn't a lineman or a backup QB.

Edit: a minor apology to AJ Klein, who has had a nice career

That's disappointing
Speaking of running back, Tarik Cohen is listed as the starter, while Mike Davis is the top reserve. Rookie David Montgomery is third. Expect that to change, however, as Montgomery is the favorite to open the year as Chicago’s primary back.

From everything I've been reading he has earned it.

He's getting a lot of accolades so far, however it's still very early. The Bears haven't even played their first preseason game yet. It won't really matter until the regular season begins.

I kinda hope they keep him there until the first week of the regular season. Might be easier to draft him in fantasy. (Not on this board though).
So, where would you draft him? I've been thinking about that for a couple weeks. I doubt he's high on anyone in my league's radar so wondering how long I can wait.

I've heard that in some dynasty leagues he's going as early as the first round. A lot of people are banking on him being a short yardage TD machine in Matt Nagy's offense. I think in a non-dynasty PPR league I'd feel very good getting him around the sixth round.

Depends on your league size and PPR or Standard.
I've seen him on a few sites in the early 4th round. He'll probably be a steal if you get him that late. Running Back #24 on another site. So the RB2 in a 12 team league.

He'll be a top 6 pick in a dynasty rookie draft, no doubt

David Montgomery has been begging for contact since training camp started. He also probably needs live game action to help acclimate to protections and pro football in general, etc. They want to see David in live game action. Mike Davis has already done this for awhile. I see the depth chart as nothing more than a reflection of this.

What better way to get David work than place him at 3 so he gets more work in the initial pre-season games. They can move the depth chart around for games 3 and 4 when the time comes.
