Have we had this one before? Who the hell knows, lets do it.
I'm sticking to a live album version not, songs I've seen live. Wanna do songs you've seen live, go for it.

Cheap Trick: I Want You to Want Me
Alice in Chains: Rooster (MTV unplugged)
Jackson Browne: Loadout
The Doors: Roadhouse Blues

Most of AC/DC Live vs their studio albums

I don't think we've done this one before - great idea!

Everlong - acoustic live version:

Jolene - Foo Fighters:

Those are my two off-the-cuff ones. I'll have to think harder for more.

Ani DiFranco's entire Living in Clip live album is basically better than any of the studio stuff.

Yeah, this is so good. I think the one used in Rushmore is different than the Live at Leeds one (and better) but this is a great example. Moon/Entwistle live come way out to the front of the music and it's amazing.

It's also a very stark contrast to the somewhat lifeless version that made it on to the studio album (the weakest original line up Who album, IMHO).

I don't know if it's "better than the studio version" BUT:

Chris Stapleton - Either Way (performed on Charlie Rose many months back)

It sounds JUST like the album. That dude has pipes that no music producer needs to mess with.

Aerosmith - Dream On from the Last Action Hero soundtrack
Hopefully that's an older version?
I've only seen Steven Tyler sing live versions of things recently and he seems to have lost it. Or maybe I'm thrown off by a 69 year old man with long hair with feathers/highlights in it and the pencil thin mustache?

Years of being a screamer probably. His voice is so different than those early years.
