Sounds like a huge waste of resources for our AD's budget. Also makes it more difficult to keep the news below the radar. Much easier and cheaper to pay for 1st class tickets (probably still paid business or coach).

No, he had all ready accepted the position. Kind of like a relationship. When you first start courting someone you always want to look your best. Rhoads promised Mangino one of his motorcycles if he signs on the dotted line. Mangino signed in a heartbeat.
The university has one King Air...the key word is university. The athletic department borrows it for some stuff (quick recruiting trips, conference media days in Dallas etc.). Other than that it is somewhat for Leaths use and at his discretion. Although Leath is a pilot and has flown himself to stuff as well.
Other than those cases everyone in the university and AD fly commercial.
