The good thing about the Vikings needs are that they are almost all low scarcity positions.

They've got the tough ones down mostly. QB, #1 CB, DE, DT, edge rushing LB, are all locked down.

WR is a little bit of a by committee type thing IMO even if there's no true #1.

S, G, #2 CB, ILB are all very easy to find for little cost.

Ironically LT may or may not be their biggest weakness and that's a position they likely won't touch because they don't want to give up on Kalil, who was literally one of the worst lineman in the NFL the past two years after his rookie pro bowl season.

I generally agree with you - although we really need to get a starting CB out of the draft, and, I think, a starting S as well. It's possible that we can go with who we have in-house for the other spots but need to at least draft good competition. Also, I think there are pretty good odds that AP gets dealt, so we'd be drafting a RB to pair with McKinnon as well.

LT is a key position. Can they let that be a so so talent?

It depends on what you're aiming for I guess. I don't think filling 5 starting spots with rookies is necessary or realistic.

Zimmers D will be fine regardless and can cover some deficiencies, as it did last year. He's also an expert at taking washed up players and reinvigorating their careers.

He turned that lazy *** Arizona State LB into a stud while he was there.

It would be nice to have an upgrade at CB #2 but it's far from a gaping hole.

Yep, we're definitely in good shape with Zimmer, and he's a DB whisperer. If we get him another good CB to go with Xavier, we'll be in good shape.

Got three starters from the draft last year (counting McKinnon) and would expect about that many this year with additional contributors - would be nice if Crichton and Yankey stepped up and contributed from last year's class.

agreed. Crichton should be improved. The knock on him was that he left school too early, and needed another year to improve. Let's hope he got that on the bench, last year. Yankey has a ton of potential, as well. The starting job is his if he wants it. All he's got to do is demonstrate that he can do it.

Agree on Crichton but I'm not counting on Yankey. He didn't play last year and our G situation was absolutely despicable. If he couldn't play last year I can't pin any hopes on him.

Yep, it is concerning Yankey didn't step in last year, despite being dubbed the Vikes best value pick. The thought up here is that he really needed to get stronger (same as Crichton, I guess) - so, possibly, he hits the weights and takes over the starting spot, or, we pick up an LG after June 1.

That would be absolutely awesome. G taken care of, trade back from 11, take a CB, then take a safety and LB in the 2nd and 3rd. If that doesn't work with Yankey maybe go G with the extra pick from the trade down.

I'm really looking forward to this draft. So many things could happen and I like where we're at with the 11th pick. I know you can never have too many talented players at any given position but I'd be okay with not getting a receiver at 11. Months ago I would have been pumped to get one of the top three guys and I still would be but I think I'd like to get Waynes.

With the Wallace trade and the other guys, I know they're still missing a #1 guy, but I am worried that highly picked WRs can flame out at a high rate and that it the need isn't nearly as great as at other positions.

I think Teddy will elevate his WRs going forward and a true #1 won't be absolutely essential.

But if they did get one and hit on the pick.....watch out.

Listening to PA this morning, he really want Vic Beasley outta Clemson. He made some good points. Getting a pass rusher in year one and move into a starting roll when Greenway retires.

I'm sold. Barr and Vic would be scary together under Zimmer.

yeah, can't argue with that. There are a lot of ways they could go at 11 that would have me happy.

Apparently Mel Kiper has the Vikings taking Waynes in the 1st round and Dorial Green-Beckham in the 2nd.

Not real wild about Green-Beckham's character, but his talent is undeniable. If they could get him to behave, that would be a nice 1st and 2nd round.

The more I read the more I don't think Waynes is the best fit for Minnesota at CB.

I would be ecstatic about DGB in the 2nd. Some have him the as best WR on the field in the draft. And if we take a RB and it's not Gurley I'd rather wait on RB and ride McKinnon.
