The #1 Minnesota Gophers are in Ames today for our last dual of the season. Three seniors will be recognized today, none of which spent their entire careers on the team, though Beard came close. Ben Perna (walked on last year), John Nicholson (transfered from Old Dominion for this season) and Boaz Beard (spent a year playing baseball in Kansas) will be honored. Beard is the only member of the 2009 recruiting class (the one that Sanderson absconded with) to make it to Senior Day. I didn't get a chance to sit down this week and do a proper preview, but the big matchup of the dual is at 197, where Kyven will face off against Scott Schiller for the 3rd time this season. Kyven is 0-2 against Schiller so far this year and has never beaten him in his career. With a win Kyven should keep his #1 ranking and be looking at a likely #1 seed at NCAAs next month. With a loss he'd probably drop to 3 or 4 in the rankings. Big match for Kyven.

Other than that 125 should be good. With a win Hall will totally cement himself as an NCAA qualifier. 174 should also be interesting. Weatherman has never beaten Storley but has been closing the gap, going from a 1-9 loss in November to a 3-6 loss at the Scuffle in January. And at 184 Beard should have a go for broke, nothing to lose, match against Steinhaus.

The dual itself has Minnesota favored to win big. We are only favored at 125 and 165 and they'll likely get bonus points from 133-157.

Apparently Minnesota brought backups at 141, 157, and 165. I'd say they're still favored at 141 but Nicholson beat his guy 5-2 at Harold Nichols. So with that change we're favored in three matches (125, 157, 165) instead of two. Though little Moreno is less likely to give up a pin now. Big Moreno beat his new opponent 6-2 at the Scuffle.

Good for the team at 157, but personally was kinda excited to watch Ness. That kid is must watch these last few weeks.

Anywhere to watch? or just the blog?

Never mind, I see you posted cyclones.tv in the original post.

Hall up 4-3 after the first. Got a quick blast double leg to put Brancale onto his back for 2 but gave up a quick escape. Got taken down with about a minute left and rode out, with a stall warning. Brancale is a pinner so Hall has to be careful on bottom. Hall down to start the 2nd.

Is the score reversed for the Hall match on Cyclones.tv?

Never mind (again); they seem to have fixed it.

Hall gets riden out. Gives up a three point tilt and gets another stalling call. Down 7-4 going into the third. Essentially 8-4 with Brancales riding time.

And now Hall is getting rolled. Nice. Up 4-0 right away now down 8-4 plus riding time.

Moreno down 5-1 after two but has eliminated the RT advantage. Starting the third in neutral.
