This team has the pieces on offense to score lots of TD's. I hope our coaches let these players score, score, score. Please don't bridle these horses. Defense will be fine. ST's will be a wait and see, IMO too early to tell until we get tested. I'm hoping we can win 9 in our regular season and our Bowl game to make us a 10 win team.

Schedule + # of returning contributors/experience and some promising developments during '23 suggests 9-3 is attainable.

So ... I went with 7-5. Seems like that's our typical result. Probably being overly cautious.

I didn't make two selections, even though the poll allows it.

Big 12 championship game. ISU vs OSU. Both teams make the 12-team playoff. Winner gets a bye. Loser is a 10-12 seed
A 3-loss ISU team isn't making any playoff, even if the 3rd loss comes in the CCG. Especially if one of those loses is to a G5 team.

CMC's regular season records
2016: 3-9
2017: 7-5 (bowl game win)
2018: 8-4 (bowl game loss)
2019: 7-5 (bowl game loss)
2020: 8-2 (B12 title game loss; bowl game win)
2021: 7-5 (bowl game loss)
2022: 4-8
2023: 7-5 (bowl game loss)
2024: ?

I think we'll get to 8 wins, but I won't believe a 10 win season until I see it. I think September is the difference between a good and a great season.

Yeah, I don't think people are grasping what the playoff is really going to look like. It's going to be 8 or 9 Big Ten/SEC teams, most likely just the ACC and Big 12 champion unless somebody is sitting 12-1 after the CCG with a big win somewhere and the G5 rep.

A 3 loss Big 12/ACC team is non-starter.

So something with an 8?

Who said anything about 3 losses? ;)
My bad, I got way too caught up in the 2020 discussion and thought they were saying that team would have made a 12-team playoff.

That said, I think we'd have to finish the regular season 12-0 to be guaranteed a playoff berth with a CCG loss.

Definitely shows a pattern.

(Note: 2018 should be bowl game loss.)

That team WOULD have made a 12 team playoff. I think they were ranked like 8 or 9 after the Big12 championship game. They defiantly would have made a 12 team playoff even with 3 losses that year.

Also, I’m guessing that 10-3 with the third loss in the CCG is going to get that Big 12 or ACC team into a 12 team playoff like 90% of the time.

I’m going to go on record right now and say no 3 loss Big 12 team will make the playoff as an at-large. Ever.

Edited: as an at large.
