I only got the deal because I said "OK then I want to cancel". They then transferred me to the cancellation department who can actually make real deals.

Thats the same department I talked to as well. I told them I was canceling to go with Dish or Mediacom and thats when the kid offered what he did.

Your deal is as good as mine or better. I got the DVR or free compared to $200 but they didn't take anything off per month.

Still not as good as I can get from Dish or Mediacom though.

So basically in the metro you have two high speed options:

Mediacom
Qwest

No FIOS or anything else coming?

You can lock into the 'fake' rates for 2 years now, if you sign up. I get phone, cable, internet for $100/month with taxes. No DVRs and only one HD box.
