I'll probably never make the switch back over but does anyone have the pricing for mediacom in the Des Moines area?

DVR's?
Packages?
HD?
Premiums?

I'm not talking about their fake rates that you get for a year.

I just switched to DirecTV this week. Mediacom with HD, DVR, and the extended basic family was about $86/mo. This is in the Tama area.

With DVR, HD, Showtime, SportsPak, family cable and internet, it would have been about $160-170 a month. I dropped them(kept internet) and went to Dish Network and pay quite a bit less and get more channels.

You can get Mediacom internet without any other services, they just charge an additional fee.

I just can't believe how much internet costs. I mostly use my Pre to tether and would get by with 90% of what I need using that.
I guess for people gaming and downloading they might need something better.

Fiber is out in the metro, depending on where people live. I'm stuck with 1.5 unfortunately, co-worker is not however in Urbandale.

Also he said he kept internet.

We have Mediacom, two DVR receivers, extended digital with sports pack, and internet for $110.

I would think you would have to be getting a deal at that price.

I have extended, HD DVR, Sports Pak, Starz, and 12mb internet and pay about $140 per month.

Since I just got a PS3 I think I will get the netflix streaming and drop starz, I think starz is $7 per month and HBO, Showtime, Cinemax are like $12 per month each.

The digital tier of channels is something like $10 or $15 more per month. I like some of the channels there but not enough to pay extra for it.

i just left mediacom myself... they constantly keep adding fees... i had a promotion for 20 bucks for a yr with HD DVR and internet then then after it yr it went to the regular price of like 115 which i had no problem paying.. then after 6 months it was up to 120 then like 2 months later it was 125 and finally when i got sent a bill for 145 and i left them.. they did the same thing to my future father in law...

I didnt want to go through the hassle of switching and asked to stay with them and they told me the best they could do was 135 a month... it was funny a month later they had somebody come back and offered me 60 a month for everything i had previous and i told the gentlemen wouldnt go back to them if they paid me...

I pay 110 now for dish and qwest high speed and have way more reg and HD channels... mediacom is a JOKE!

I guess it doesn't matter because I just committed to 2 more years to Directv today. They gave me a free HD dvr so I pulled the trigger. Of course I had to threaten to cancel.

So, is this a solid commit or are you still going to take other visits?

Lucky you! I called yesterday to see what they would do to keep me since my contract just ran out. They offered $100 off a HD DVR and $10 off a month for a year. I explained to them that I could get a better deal from either Dish Net or Mediacom and the kid basically just said thats the best he could do. I asked him for the new customer deal and he nearly laughed at me. Oh well, DirecTV won't hurt with one less customer.

I always wonder if it just depends on the person you talk to, or if they're looking at something in your profile that determines how good of a deal they can offer you. Some people say they get awesome deals, and some get told to take a hike.

I only got the deal because I said "OK then I want to cancel". They then transferred me to the cancellation department who can actually make real deals.
