Re: Not traveling to OSU??

In all honesty, I would take Woodbury's hustle, work ethic and "team first" attitude over ANY player we have. You wonder why a team with average talent like Iowa is a top 5 team? Guys like Woodbury.

This is both the funniest and dumbest thing I have ever read!!! Thank you.

Fred sat BDJ when he needed to and the team won the Big XII tourney and was a 2-seed.

And Prohm has sat Jameel when he was able to. Jameel sat for big minutes against Illinois and against Kansas, just to name two games.

I like the support for the team, but haven't seen him take ownership of being suspended in all of his social media posts. I guess no apology is better than a fake one.

Humility is hard. This is just the first step of a long walk. Bad things are only bad if we learn nothing from them.

Medcalf:

"Wonder what Damion Lee would tell Jameel McKay right now. Lee would give anything to play in March. McKay seems more focused on Jameel."

Damion Lee had a chance to play here which would have helped everyone involved

GAMEDAY !!! For my bros I know they will hold it down! #CyclOneNation

Definitely a sign of maturity. It's the first step towards being a great teammate. Thumbs up to you Jameel. Continue to prove everyone wrong. You hold the power.

I see it as a CYA move. Like, "oh ----! Better suck up to coach and my bros now that it's clear they're sick of my ----."

Oh, and the first step toward being a great teammate is sucking it up and playing through adversity. Showing your teammates you have their back even when times are tough...ON THE COURT, not Twitterville.

Wood has improved this year. He only shot one dunk under the rim and misses only a few two ft layups on the left side. That said, his defense seems to be much better this year.

Jeremy seemed to indicate that now his teammates do have an issue with him.

They have an issue with his consistent pouting and attitude...most of them are still friends with him though...the bigger issue (and they know it), is that he is not 'buying in' to being coached, and held accountable at all.

Woodbury and Gessel have caught more crap on Twitter in the last 3 years than all ISU players combined but I don't see them posting a bunch of negative stuff or refusing to practice.

If we see him back after 1 game following his "indefinite" suspension, I am sure he would have apologized to his teammates and coaches. Not on twitter, either.

Hopefully that is the case. His posts give me the vibe that he thinks he is more of a martyr than someone who has screwed up.

They're not allowed on twitter after the suck a fat one incident. But yeah, drama wise, they're no JM.

When did he start proving people wrong? The only people he's proven wrong so far are people that continue to rush to his defense everytime he bashes his coaches or the community on social media, or has a game where he gets frustrated and starts taking plays off.

He's always been close to his teammates. Let's see if he buys into COACHING when he comes back?...or if he continues to pout everytime something doesn't go his way.

Would you rather he not show support for his team? I have never defended Jameel's actions. I have said that he has a choice here to make wrongs right. I'm encouraging him to make the right choices and start to prove that his past actions are in the past. Encouraging and coddling are two completely different things.

When you know better, you do better. I am hopeful that he will learn from the situation he placed himself in.

IMO - the direct, in-person apologies to his teammates and coaches would carry far more meaning for them than a half-hearted, generic blathering on any social media platform.

Thought the same. Did he hurt himself by tweeting "one game"? Wouldn't you want to keep that under wraps vs. potentially antagonizing the staff by undermining the message of "indefinite". It'll be interesting to see if it is just one game.
