Is on the radar.

Recently the MVP in the second class of 10 out of 40 teams at a national tournament.

From a writeup on the tournament:

Matt Heber was selected by Coach Gibbs as his team’s MVP. Heber had 20 points, six rebounds and 4 blocks in the semifinal game and 18 points, 9 rebounds, 4 blocks, and 2 assists in the championship game. He made 20 of 28 field goals (71%), 6 of 6 three point shots and 5 for 5 free throws in the final three games. For the entire 9-game tournament, Heber was 11-17 from beyond the arc (65%), and averaged 10.1 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 blocks per game, and shot 54% from the field and 75% from the line.

Plays for the Tippecanoe Tornados in Delphi, IN, a homeschooled team with an exciting new coach.

There are several highlight videos on youtube.

Most players won't get much notice or respect playing for a homeschool team as evidenced by these comments but my nephew plays a vast majority of his games in the summers with an AAU team consisting of top players from area high schools and this team plays all-star and high school teams all summer long. This summer, he played over 50 games with this team plus 21 games with an elite AAU team from Indianapolis that he was invited to play with. He also regularly attends showcases and camps that have top-flight competition. I understand that this is the way that other homeschoolers and small school students have received the exposure needed to obtain D1 opportunities. His coach who has D1 experience keeps saying that he has definite D1 potential if he keeps improving like he has been and has high expectations for him this year. Other local coaches have stated that he is one of the top five players in the greater Lafayette area.

So, is ISU in contact with him? Is that what you mean by "on the radar" or is this just for our benefit?

There was a kid from oklahoma that played in a homeschool league with friends of ours at one time. Somehow he was the number one NBA draft this year.

I think it is great, especially if he can be a contributor to the program. Thanks for the heads up.
