I think, for the most part, the only people that name an obscure band as their favorite band are pretentious people.

So I’m shocked Herman didn’t do it.
My favorite band is The Plasmatics. Was hooked on them since the day I walked into COOP records and she was just putting that album on the turntable.

I think Van Halen is okay....but I'm not sure how anyone into music or who appreciates talent could rip on DMB. They are amazing.

That is a hot take. Am I pretentious for saying Vulfpeck is probably my favorite band at the moment? They are fairly well known but certainly not in the top 40 charts. I would describe them as a funk band. I like them for the same reason I like Earth, Wind, and Fire and Bruno Mars - very talented musicians playing a genre that I enjoy.

Is no one gonna mention not a single coach likes a non-gigantic mainstream band?

Check out Georgia Tech's coach's choice. Obscure choice, but the absolute best choice out of every single coach on that list! And definitely not mainstream!

Then you haven't listened to their entire catalog. There's a reason every hair band of the 80's emulated them. Eddie Van Halen was an innovator and true musician. He belongs on the Mount Rushmore of rock guitarists alongside Hendrix, Jimmy Page, & Tom Morello. David Lee Roth was born to be the ringmaster of big rock (of course his cocaine shtick was worn out by 1990).

I think we all know that you’re pretentious.

Where they love the governor
NOW we know why Campbell favors the cardinal/black/white emphasis in the uniform scheme. ;):D

Oh I like Van Halen okay. They have great stuff. I just don't get the hate for DMB.

I think DMB is decent music, but there are 2 things that makes peope hate on them. Overexposure. Their **** was EVERYWHERE for a while and that always generates a lot of hate. Also, they seem to attract a disproportionate amount of douchey middle aged white dudes. I mean look, Rhule and Herman... nuff said.

Edit: They also have a bad tendency of emptying their **** on boatloads of people. Literally.

further proof as to the rightful contention of my hypothesis that DMB ruined music starting in 1994.

I'm going to have to disagree with this. The downfall of music started much earlier and is directly attributable to one man, Michael McDonald. When he joined the Doobie Brothers in 1977, it was all downhill from there. After all, we got disco after that. 1978-79 was the peak of the disco craze. And sadly, that's making a comeback now. I know they call it techno music now or whatever, but you can't fool me.
