The two weeks leading up to signing day was more interesting back then. We would get some surprises and many unknowns. Now, signing day is kind of boring.
While signing day is less exciting, I'm sure the coach's are much happier knowing (for the most part) who was signing and thus able to concentrate more on the few missing pieces. The past couple of months have been pretty fun...normally during a time when nothing was happening other that Iowa and ISU fans yapping at each either.

It's worth it though. And the excitement is mostly just bumped up to the early signing period instead of in February.

Yes there's less pageantry and shifting right before signing day, but that rarely worked out well for ISU.

The new model is better for the schools and the players. If you are 100% committed you can sign and focus on school. The program can focus on the rest of the season and the rest of the class.

This time about 5 years ago we were hoping we'd get a transfer from Iowa Central under CPR and a 3 star kid was a savior. Not so much anymore, this is an amazing staff!

Remember when getting the Bailey Twins was the best thing ever???

Jaquan Bailey was a .8469 247 composite, lower rated than Chambers, and would be in the bottom third of this class...

I'm just looking at the 247 rankings of our classes. Good lord Rhoads last few classes averaged in the low 80s. Side note... we have the best long snapper in the country commited per 247, but his rating is 79. I wonder how they come to that conclusion.

Because specialists get shafted for no reason whatsoever on recruiting sites.

Oh there's a reason. It's not a good reason but there's a reason. No one buys a site subscription to hear about special teams, so no one spends resources scouting long snappers and just go off where they sign and who offered to guess how good they are.
