Lots of upsets at 174. Though regrettably it doesn't look like they'll help Weatherman much. At least they also don't look like they'll drop any high seeds into his side of the bracket.

Gadson unable to get the turn. Up 2-0 after one with just under 3 minutes of RT. He's down to start the 2nd.

Gadson wins it 6-1. Match was nowhere near as close as the score. Gadson was going for a pin or bust and Ayala did a good job staying off his back. Hope that team point doesn't bite us in the *** later on.

They must've been inspired by the men's basketball team, because all the guys are putting in work! (me not so much today)

This may work for Iowa also, but for other reasons. Their BB team sometimes looks more like a wrestling team, especially McCabe's hip toss on the Michigan State guy.

Not that team scores mean much at this point, but we could not have asked (at least not reasonably) for a better first round performance.

Iowa State tied for 6th after the first session. Ahead of both Iowa and UNI.

Everyone either did what was expected or overachieved? Did anyone underachieve their seed/match?

Yes, but it's the first round. So not a whole lot learned yet. We've got 4 guys still on the championship side of the bracket. If 3 of them punch through to the quarterfinals that would be a really big plus for us teamwise. And hopefully at least 1 of our guys in the consolations stays alive.
