Wrapping up our basement/studio renovations for now. Going to start adding some Lutron switches/dimmers - I am after the IR versions.

I saw some at Home Depot, but each unit cane with a remote. I just need the switches as I'm going to us a Harmony remote to control a couple different sets of lights and all my A/V equipment when I add that.

I've been looking at the Maestro and Spacer switches. In one room I'll have...

- 3 separate light circuits
- A/V equipment

In another...

- 2 separate light circuits
- Ceiling fan
- A/V equipment

These are the ones I'm going to focus on for now and if all works well, I'll add some of these upstairs. I basically need to know if I can buy the switches without the remotes and save some cash.

BTW...basement/studio is painted in ISU colors in most rooms with black ceilings. :)

Installing about 1200 sq ft of laminate wood flooring now - yeah - that's fun stuff.

You may have another issue though.

I just have one set of lights that use IR and is controlled by my remote. For my other sets of lights I just use the standard Maestro dimmer that's not controlled by IR. If you have multiple lights that you want to control via Harmony remote you may have some issues. On top of that you need to make sure that the outlets are in a line of sight

Also, I'm going to be putting a couple of these right next to each other in the same box - they're a bit larger than regular switches - do they have problems fitting next to one another?

I should be able to program separate switches with the Harmony remote. And yes, the switches will be in light of sight. :)

Well I know I can do that - I'm simply looking for the switch without the Lutron remote to save money - I'm not going to use their remote.

Home Depot has it for $40 with the remote, odd the site you listed has it for more.

Lutron Maestro IR® 600 Watt Dimmer with Infrared Receiver - White - MIR-600THW-WH at The Home Depot

The one I have listed and the one at Home Depot are different. The one I have listed is for use with multi location. So I have one at the top of the stairs and one at the bottom and they both control the same set of lights but only one has IR.

Ah, so a 3-way switch?

Come to think of it, the main room I am going to put this in has a 3 way switch...

If you look close on the left side of this picture you'll see where there is a double gang.

Here is another picture with a double gang on the left side of the picture. The one on the left controls the bar lights and the one on the right controls another set.
