Coach Orr really thought he had Lowell Hamilton out of Providence St Mel in Chicago.
Oh wow, that's right, I totally had forgotten about that. I vaguely remember him talking about it at some, maybe on radio or in a news story.

Went to Illinois and started(?) on team that went to '89 Final Four.

Just think, Orr "almost" got two players who played in that FF, Rice (U-M, won title) and Hamilton.

Wayne Morgan prize recruit after Homan and Vroman graduated.

Became very sick(mono?)right before the season started. Lost a ton of weight and never contributed that season.

Had he been %100 healthy along with Stinson, Blalock and Clark......that team wins more than 20 games and makes the dance.

Of course he transfers when Wayne gets let go. Would have been fun to see him with those three players and Wayne's run and gun offense.
Taggart actually played quite a bit off the bench as a Fr but yes had an illness and was super skinny.

Looks like he averaged almost 18 min. per game and 5.6 ppg. He had a nice role, maybe 6th man on that D Rose Memphis team that played for the title I think.

The never made it to ISU guys that come to mind:

Bruton
X Foster
Pelle
Malou
Barnes (though I didn't think that was going to happen given the status of McD)
But captain of the team is Glen Rice both in terms of how close it was to happening and having one of the best runs in college bball and the tourney in recent decades.

I once told someone that Aaron Agnew was going to be the next Victor Alexander while waiting in the porta potty line at a football game. I may have been drinking.

Foster? He played a year.

His ability was there but then he was hurt and seemed disinterested in doing pretty much anything.
