I don’t expect Cam to choose to leave. Nor do I expect Prohm to force him out unless he has major issues between now and next season.

And I still say I hope Jacobson, if he plays like he did in conference this year, gets beat out to be 3rd+ on the depth chart next year. Not that he currently deserves to be 3rd, but that we end up with two options next year that provide more than he did in Big 12 play.

ISU will have more bigs next year than it is used to having recently. It seems that Prohm should try to figure out some two big lineups he can use at times to get these guys on the floor.

If THT and Wiggs are gone, they likely aren't going to the tournament unless some guys make major improvements or the new guards are better than advertised.

Did you see the bubble this year? Saying a team likely won't go to the tournament 8 months before the season starts is ridiculous.

He makes some dumb fouls but I think he has a reputation as a fouler and as a result he's gotten called for several really bad calls. When Cam is on he's as good as any post.

I would agree but I think one of those guys needs to be able to space the floor. Playing Lard and Jacobson at the same time seems like it could muddle the offense. We saw how skilled Cam actually is in the post and I'm not sure Jacobson holds a huge advantage with the ball in his hands down low. Cam changes things on the defensive end (sometime for the worse) and provides a completely different dynamic because of his athleticism. Solomon, to me, is somewhere in between those guys.

What I think we really need is for our perimeter guys to rebound better. You can't rely on one guy down low to do all of the rebounding.

I’m 35, almost 36, and for the first time in my memory, if Lard comes back, ISU will have almost more quality bigs than they know what to do with. Will be interesting to see what we do with it, as I think the 4 guard lineup has become an identity Prohm doesn’t really want to get away from.

I think it's a little bit weird to say that Prohm doesn't want to get away from the 4 guard lineup. Just last year we were playing 2 big men nearly all the time. Even two years ago he played some with Bowie and Young at the same time, and that was with a huge amount of guard depth. This year, the only time they played 2 big men was at West Virginia. However, keep in mind that the entire first half of the season, they were playing with just 2 big men active on the roster (one being a true freshman), and even later in the season, you never knew what you were going to get with Lard, specifically with him getting in foul trouble. I'd be pretty confident that we'll see two big men a fair amount next year, and would even be pretty confident that we'll play two big men the majority of the time, depending on who (if anyone) leaves.

Pump the breaks on Young as well. He had a severe groin seperation from the bone. That is nasty and its possible he will never be the same. Definitely rooting for him. I love Solomon.

The talent, depth, and experience on the roster last year was heavily towards the guards/wings, especially when Lard sat out the first month of the season.

Next season, it is going to basically be the opposite, even with Horton-Tucker and Wigginton back, and incredibly so if both of them decide to head to the next level.

I almost think you HAVE to do a two-big starting lineup, trying to make your notional 4 man into a stretch, and let Lard keep on doing his thing underneath the basket.

I am okay going small in short bursts, and I am all for adapting your system to the personnel that you have. It made sense last year for reasons stated. I am not sure it is going to make the same sense next year. Pushing what could be a mediocre graduate transfer or unready freshman or sophomore into the lineup to play 4/1 when you are sitting George Conditt, Cameron Lard, or Solomon Young makes absolutely zero sense to me.

Put your best five men out there and figure out how to make them play together. Talent matters a heck of a lot more than style at no matter what level of basketball.

When you need a beast to body up and not take any **** down in the post make sure you bring your own junkyard dog. We got ours.

I loved watching him not take anything from the crap Ohio State gave him. Twice, at minimum, he was hit with an elbow to the face and he still battled like a spartan in 300 taking names and kicking ass. I'm so glad for Cam to come full circle this season. For all the haters and doubters, Cam is a beast and can't wait to see more of him in the Cardinal and yellow.

That is all.

P.S. **** Ohio State

Other than the stupid behind the back pass late in the game, I thought he played really well.

Where does he go? Transferring does him no good because he used his redshirt and nobody is going to risk him in the NBA with his behavior history. The only shot of anything is to go to Europe and you don't typically see guys leave early for that.
His game does NOT match up with European teams that I've seen very well.

I don't think playing two bigs = playing Lard and Jacobsen together, even if they are the best two. You still only play two bigs if they compliment each other.

Solo and Lard played well together last season. The offense wasn't great, but I think with the right guys around them it could work. Wigginton, THT, and Haliburton with Lard and Solo, or even Conditt, is intriguing.
