Just curious if anyone on here has ever been to Lake Tahoe. We are headed out there in a few days and it will be my first time. Was hoping to get a few pointers on what to do/see...

Thanks. I will hang up and listen.

Only been there in the winter but it's probably the most beautiful natural place I've ever seen. Can't give much advice because I mainly was just skiing and hanging in cabins. I want to go back in summer some day.

I have been there a couple of times, but not in 15 years. Have fun, I love the area. Wife and I spent an afternoon horseback riding. There are also some hiking trails that are fun, I think they were on the south side. The water was chilly but worth going into since the water was so clear. Pick an evening outside to eat at a restaurant along the shore. Not sure if I helped you or not

Never have been there but have always wanted to go. Hell I'll even watch some of the Celebrity Golf Tournament that is there every year just to see how beautiful the scenery is there.

Go out there every year that National Bowling Tournament is in Reno, including this year. I'm assuming you will have a car. About a 3 hour trip to drive around the lake. Several scenic overlooks.

Most of civilization is in and around South Lake Tahoe, CA and Stateline, NV. Harvey's and Harrah's are the two casinos, and are tied together by an underground tunnel. Hard Rock Café and Cabo Wabo (Sammy Hagars' cantina) are two of the restaurants in Harvey's. There are several boat trips available (Zepher Cove). We didn't go on one this year has we have done it in the past, plus the boats can't make it into Emerald Bay (lake level down due to drought) and they didn't lower the cost.

We made a stop for a few days on our family road trip to Cali when I was younger. After the first day, we liked it so much that we reserved a different campsite for two extra nights. Just beautiful. We were on the less busy side (north side I believe) and tent camped. Sitting and watching the full moon over the lake with my dad is still one of my favorite memories from growing up. Kayaking on the lake as well.

Been there for 3 days a few years ago and it was beautiful. I loved the Emerald Isle boat cruise but another poster said that is postponed.

We stayed at a resort on the water down the mountain from Heavenly Ski resort in S Lake Tahoe on the CA side.. The website and pics looked nice but the room in the summer was really a timeshare and a little beat up from skiers walking around with their ski boots inside the rooms

We rented bikes and took a 3 hour ride on the sidewalks/bike paths around south lake Tahoe.

~ try driving around the entire lake.

~ there are a couple old mining towns on the way to Carson City and Virginia City. Take a 1/2 day..

We weren't interested in the NV side casinos on the southern rim of the Lake

Been there and loved it both summer and winter. Got snowed in there a few years ago for five days and was a-ok by me.

Go to the top of Heavenly via gondola. That's a must.

Only drove through this May, but it was absolutely beautiful. Would have loved to spend time there but was on a strict schedule. Quick note: my GPS got screwed up there and when contacting onstar, they were showing me as located in a lake.

Only been in the winter. But I second the get has high on heavenly as you can. The name means more once you have seen that view. My buddies dad has a place out there. They do all kinds of normal mountain out door activities during summer. Make the drive around the lake and enjoy the scenic overviews. Things are a little more expensive than you probably are used too, just so you are aware. Overall you will enjoy it. It is one of the most beautiful places on earth.

The GF used to live in Truckee which is a fun little town. I would try to make a stop there for a bit. Squaw Valley IMO is another must stop just for the idea that they held the Olympics there. It is hard to imagine.

We may see you there:) We are fortunate to live less than 4 hours away and go several times a year. We have a boat, so we spend most of the time on the lake. Not know what you like to do I hesitate to make recommendations, other than drive around the lake and plan lots of stops. The shoreline is 72 miles. Emerald Bay is a must. We are going out one morning fishing for Lake Trout with a guide if you like to fish. As others have said, regardless of the time of the year it is truly one of the most beautiful places on earth. We'll be there the 15-25th; give me a shout if you would like additional information, or possibly get together for a cocktail; lots of great spots on the water.

We were there 3 years ago in July for our honeymoon and loved it. There is a boat tour to Emerald Bay that you need to do. Drinking is encouraged on the boat. Also the gondola up the mountain was spectacular. You'll have a blast.
