This has been going on for some time now. K-State, historically, left off-campus crime cases involving students to local police. In Manhattan policing is exceptionally good. However, the practice was not consistent with federal law, at least according to the suit filed by these women.

Frankly, if my daughter, I would have preferred local police rather than campus police handle the matter due to pressures that could be placed on the campus guys by administrators and others. Plus campus cops do not, generally, have as many tools as employed by city/county police. Thus, this has always struck me as an odd indictment. But the whole area of law, lawyers and suits of this type and others can be convoluted to say the least.

Whatever, this doesn't involve K-State athletics, which makes placement of the article here little more than cat bait.
