Shows that there is a huge difference in leadership between the two major football programs in the state. Matt Campbell cut his salary enough to cover the difference of salary cuts his assistants were facing. Maybe not a big deal because football salaries can be huge compared to us regular folks. But what an example to his assistants and players. The level you take care of those under you and they in turn will take care of you and probably give a greater return on investment.

"Do things the right way,.....must have had (another) blind spot."
I don't despise people who have made a lot in terms of wealth.

But when 90%+ of all businesses take a paycut, and essentially all rank and file employees made less than normal last year, and he is the highest paid state employee and DOESN'T take a paycut..... That's a bad look and that is putting it nicely.

Gazette was just giving Ferentz a reminder he has until June 30th to make good.

Which he'll likely do now..... but wouldn't have if nobody had said anything.

If he truly was going to do it, he would have done it a long time ago.

He's just a POS.... but if you have some relatively decent success on the football field, your fans will look the other way no matter what you do.

Waiting for Barta and Kirk to now use this as some grandiose PR in late June and then local media will lap it up about how great Kirk is for it...

Barta will commend and give an award to KF no doubt.....right after he declares Iowa the least racist program in the Big10

I really don’t care that much that he didn’t take a pay cut. It’s the fact that him and the University said he would take a pay cut, but didn’t.
Yep that is the part that is disappointing and BS. You said you were gonna do it so do it or at the time just say nah I am not going to

Not a good look for KF, but let's not act like he isn't generous.

When asked if Ferentz donated to the UI Center for Advancement to help with the deficit, Henderson said:

“Mary and Kirk Ferentz contributed to the department’s savings goal through their previous philanthropic commitment of $400,000 to support football letterwinner initiatives. The commitment was established in June, 2019, and pledge payments of $100,000 have been received in December 2019 and 2020.”

“In addition,” he said, “Mary and Kirk have provided nearly $1 million in private support to the Athletics Department, including a $500,000 contribution to the Kinnick Edge campaign,” referring to a fundraising drive that began in early 2017.

He hasn’t done anything related to covid issues.

So they have donated for the betterment of U of Iowa athletics. Nice and all of that but wouldn't he get a round about benefit from U of Iowa athletics having more money to spend . . . . on him.

Iowa had to cut 4 sports and borrow tax payers money all while Kirk not only didn't take a pay reduction like he said he would and took a bowl bonus for a game that wasn't played

Yes, everyone is aware of that.

100,000 a year when making 5MM is like a person making 50,000 donating $600 (when you through in tax situations) so it’s not that extremely impressive.

Twins I know you think that KF is a deplorable human being. What do your sources have to say about him?

The "he donates money to charity" crowd will be along soon.

The ones I talked to are pretty disappointed he said he would take a paycut publicly and then refused to. Nothing compared to this summer or anything but it's still pretty bad
