How many ever do? Jada Williams announcement to leave Arizona never mentioned the coaches. Is that a bad thing…or much ado about nothing? Some don’t even make a post at all. Does that mean anything?
Not to really take sides, but I wouldn't want to use Jada Williams as an example. I follow a few AZ writers and the parting between Adia Barnes and many on that team was not pretty. And I think she was the major problem, evidenced by running to SMU.

Some of my favorite hustle players over the years…Taylor, Fritz, Paustian, Ross, Pop, Schroll and the senior Joens. Joens the third exhibits many of the same traits.
I compare Joens to Heise on the men's team. Rebound well for their size, play decent defense, good from 3 pt range, and hustle after every loose ball. Good "team" players, fun to watch!

I think it does.
First be thing I noticed with the announcement.
I wish she was staying with the team. Has more skill and potential than several still on the roster.

What I had seen since the national championship game were a ton of problems. Perhaps a bad example, but I previewed several outgoing players and if they weren’t graduating seniors with eligibility it was pretty rare to see coaches mentioned…or there (more often than not) wasn’t any announcement at all.

This is what the parents were thinking when she made the move. Being parents they do not always see their kid as others see their kid. The outcome was the same at UNC. Defense first scoring second because that is the player she is regardless of where she is. A coach not ISU affiliated told me this directly because I happen to run into them at another sporting event I was attending.

One thing to point out, Lexi's dad was her HS coach. So he probably had a different insight or perspective on her basketball development at Iowa State than most other parents.

That's not meant to be an indictment on the Cyclone's staff, but could have felt a change in scenery might spark growth in Lexi's game. No different than when a football coach brings in a new S&C person or a golfer changing their swing coach.

On the plus side…she had a solid, if not spectacular, run at NC. Unlike some players, she was on a good team and maintained a high level of play.

I kinda went the other way on his evaluation. I thought it was interesting that being a coach he does not see what everyone else sees. She is a lockdown defender which isn't a bad thing. I don't think she was ever going to develop a consistent offensive game regardless of location or offensive scheme.

She was the exact player at UNC as she was at Iowa State. Awesome one on one defender and sat behind the three point line on offense. It was also said when she transferred that she was going to an offense where the ball would be in her hands more on the offensive end, that did not happen. She was used/played the exact same way as a Tarheel as she did as a Cyclone. Wish she would have stayed.

But she wouldn't have found out if she didn't try. I'm sure Lexi had confidence in her abilities and work ethic that she might see growth in her offensive game. And we are making assumptions that she made the change because of offense. Who knows, she might have wanted to move to a program where team defense was more of an emphasis.

We all make life choices that the grass will be greener: sometimes the change is awesome, sometimes the change is treading water and sometimes the change is bad.

In the end Lexi played for 2 great basketball programs, learned from two elite coaches, enjoyed a ton of individual and team success and got a great education from two top flight universities. Sounds like a great life experience for a 23yo.

I am not making assumptions. I was told she wanted to go somewhere to develop a more offensive game so that she could improve her draft status.

In today's Transfer portal I just find it hard to get worked up. All programs see ladies leave. Good programs see ladies leave. It is the new nature of the portal beast, I would have loved Kelsey to stay, she did not for whatever reasons. It is harder to be a fan now a days as you get a favorite player and they move on from your favorite team. Tough time to be a player or fan it appears.

My wife is in Minnesota watching the grandchildren, giving me the perfect excuse to dine on pork tenderloin this evening. My opinion of CBF is not popular on this site and I think less of him now than I did this afternoon, which is saying something. Anyway, that's old news and Kelsey will land on her feet. Shout out to Brent Blum who's evidently a stand-up guy. Kelsey has heard from an impressive list of schools, including B1G, Big XII, Mountain West, Big Sky and a host of mid-majors. If she opts out of a P4 conference opportunity, I see a great fit at a regular 20-game winning land grant school in a scenic location, with rock solid coaching staff featuring McDermott ties.

So what did CBF to lose your respect? I mean you want us to think he did something bad so why not tell us what he did.
