Because people like you are hell-bent on ******** about everything and hate any decision Jamie makes regardless of what it is. It matters zero what the actual substance of the argument is, you will be against it.Why is that a weird take? If money is the reason the south video board was reduced in size, why spend the several million dollars to replace the board for a slightly better increase in resolution? And yes, I do think our stadium lacks a lot of amenities and big time feel of most other P5 stadiums and I don't even think that is debatable.

Bowling in the NEZ wont increase the seating very much.I keep seeing posters wanting to bowl in the north end and increase seating. My question is can we fill all those seats? We are not filling all of them now so where are all these extra fans coming from. Let's see how we do the rest of this season because I have yet to see it full so far.
I've always wondered what it would be like to add upper deck seating but leave the hillsides. Might need to fire up Photoshop to see what that would look like..Bowling in the NEZ wont increase the seating very much.
It will have to first replace 6K+ hillside seats before actually increasing seating.
To be fair we were not regularly selling out before we bowled in the SEZ. What it did do is increase our income from premium club section seats. But it still increased our ticket sales. We went from selling 95% of 55K seats to selling 95% of 61.5K seats. It was a net gain overall.Exactly. Before we even think about adding more seating for us plebes we need to reach a point where we're regularly selling out. Hell, I'd even go so far as to say selling out via season ticket sales should be prerequisite.
I know it's been discussed ad nauseum, but rather than maximizing tickets sold, I strongly believe we need to focus on maximizing revenue per ticket sold. Focus on amenities and creature comforts and gradually offer more and more variants of "premium" seating and cut down on the less profitable standard seats currently available.
That will never happen. You replace the hills with higher value seats, to make the cost feasible. Not to mention building a floating deck like that would be overly expensive for the return, and look really stupid.I've always wondered what it would be like to add upper deck seating but leave the hillsides. Might need to fire up Photoshop to see what that would look like..
Generalize much? I think we can acknowledge that Jamie has done a lot of great things over the years but sometimes he gets cheap and conservative and it can be frustrating. That’s an okay opinion to have. It’s okay to be disappointed when something gets cut back and vent here a little bit. That’s what a random message board is for.Because people like you are hell-bent on ******** about everything and hate any decision Jamie makes regardless of what it is. Cheap? JP isn’t perfect but the AD spends literally every dollar they earn. Conservative? CyTown is exhibit A in thinking big. i am grateful for his leadership through very difficult times the last 15 years and the headwinds are still blowing. The AD continues to overachieve given its resources.Generalize much? "People like you" - love that line. Typical response from a typical keyboard warrior. I'm not in the minority with being disappointed with this decision. Jamie has done some good things for Iowa State but to say the guy is not deserving of any hint of criticism is laughable.Because people like you are hell-bent on ******** about everything and hate any decision Jamie makes regardless of what it is. I think the problem is, some people have a hard time understanding budgets and think that money is unlimited. Iowa State has a very finite amount of money they can spend on everything. With the expected upcoming costs this only gets more important."People like you" - love that line. Typical response from a typical keyboard warrior. But god damn it! You can’t go cheap on the second scoreboard size!!! He’s clearly a pinchpenny!!!!I think the problem is, some people have a hard time understanding budgets and think that money is unlimited. People want all the money for what they think is important, leaving little to nothing for anything else. Pollard has to balance the importance of every expenditure, and for the most part has done an exceptional job.
We all want more of this or more of that. But unless there is money for it, we cant just spend.
So no one can criticize anything? Ever? Got it.But god damn it! You can’t go cheap on the second scoreboard size!!! He’s clearly a pinchpenny!!!!
What’s your solution to increase donations and managing increased costs, like $22MM for players? What help can you offer JP, besides complaints? So no one can criticize anything? Ever? Got it.
Really? No ****, Sherlock. We’re all Iowa State fans, we all know full well the challenges of funding. Get off your high horse and realize it’s okay to be disappointed about a project that was spec’d, bid and awarded (yes, awarded) less than a year ago getting cut back. Is it the end of the world? No. But JP is not infallible just because he’s done lots of great things.I think the problem is, some people have a hard time understanding budgets and think that money is unlimited. It’s one complaint about one project. The raging defensiveness about criticism of one decision from a few posters here is weird as ****.What’s your solution to increase donations and managing increased costs, like $22MM for players? What help can you offer JP, besides complaints?
