Er, I have no idea where that comes from.

Expanding the press box has nothing to do with provided more space for the press. It comes down to two items, 1. it would improve the looks of the stadium, making it look more like a power 4 conference stadium and less like a G5 school. 2nd is that you build more suites that you can sell or more space to build another Sukup like section. The money today is in these types of seats and suites, not for the average fan, but the guy or corporation that has money to spend and willing to do it. Just look at the new pads they built for campers, they are printing money from those people and would do the same for expanding the press box.The press box.

People were saying the exact same thing when they were talking about bowling in the south end zone. "when we start selling out every game, then it will be time to bowl the end zone in." They were wrong, bowling in the stadium has increased the look and feel of the stadium. Increasing the size of the press box would do the same to the stadium. More enhanced seating and suites would bring in more money into the program, while also improving the look of the stadium. Is there a waiting list for suites in JTS?
I believe we could use more club seats but not suites.
We have 45 suites, someone tell me a college stadium with or without a huge skybox that has SIGNIFICANTLY more suites than that, that would warrant us building a skybox for more suites, and pay for itself.
The thing that may eventually drive it is the demand for club sections in the suite area on the West side like on the East. That would take out many of the suites and those would need to go somewhere. But cost wise it makes absolutely no sense until someone gives a huge earmarked donation or there is significant demand for more suites or club sections.
So..... anyone that wants a big box.... all I can say is....

Since you oppose the press box, what do you suggest should be the next improvement to JTS?
Paying $22MM to players
Sadly, thisFacility updates like a press box are not going to happen at Iowa State when we need every dollar to stay competitive in P4.
While obviously a new press box would look nice, I don’t think Iowa state is in a position to blow that much money in cosmetics. I mean, we can’t even afford higher priority things we actually need to be competitive at the moment. Figure out how to max out the 22 million a year for players first.
Yah I'll bet Brock just dreams of this ribbon cutting.I have been saying for years our press box is ugly. It doesn't even need to be so tall, but man, it literally is an eyesore and you, fine sirs, will not change my mind. Maybe when Brock gets paid we can have a new Purdy family press box.
Our bleachers are not painted, they are anodized. This makes it much more difficult to get paint to stick and last on them. Painting them would be a maintenance nightmare. As it would need to be redone constantly, and faded peeling paint would look worse.Ah it’s been a couple of weeks since the last press box size debate.
Two things can be true:
The press box is kind of an eye sore and a nicer bigger one would make JTS more appealing.
It’s not necessary when there are other pressing costs coming down the road.
While we are at it can we paint the bleachers so they aren’t faded cardinal and yellow? When it isnt full it’s look really outdated and cheap.
Idk if its just my section, but I think its time to get new numbers on the seats. I've had to help multiple people and show them where their seats are.Ah it’s been a couple of weeks since the last press box size debate.

Whatever it is it looks like **** when its an aerial empty shot, if fans aren’ there, when our fans are in the lots drinking in the 3rd qtr, ect..Our bleachers are not painted, they are anodized. My guessing is most people dont even pay attention to it. They have been that way as long as I remember, they may have been darker at one time, but its been so long I dont remember them actually not faded.Whatever it is it looks like **** when its an aerial empty shot, if fans aren’ there, when our fans are in the lots drinking in the 3rd qtr, ect..
