That is not true. They added some spots around Hilton that adds or replaces some. But moving the RV to a designated lot opened a huge amount of spots in "D" Which are as close as any we will lose from this.
No spots were added at MWL that is just an exaggeration. The RV lot is what it is, they needed to have an area that works for that. Its not that much further especially with the bridge. The biggest issue there is it puts it in an island on its own.
You should look at other Universities in the Nation, and how much parking there is and how close it is vs ours. ISU has way more than most, and is set up fan friendly compared to most.
The people that park around Hilton are actually gaining a spot that was not there before, because we are gaining several hundred spots over the course of the project....which is about how many were added around Hilton.
The spots gained in"D" and by redesigning the layout, are replacing those lost in through the center of the lots for buildings, which is basically a wash in distance and convenience and value. Replacing C6 and B6 spots with D4 does compare though, no one is foring C6 people out to B1. For the most part it the highest people will stay where they are and the lowest will shuffle down, and no one will move very far from previous parking locations, the lowest point donors will actually gain spots that were not there before, which will be around Hilton.
One can say the RV lot is in a less desirable location, but the amenities it provides makes up for much of that. And regardless of CyTown or not, building an RV lot with the amenities it has was always going to have to move from the lots in "D" to a more suitable location for such a lot.
You are just trying to make it sound worse than it actually is.
I tend to agree with @thisISnextyear. There is no way that you can build CyTown and not displace premium tailgate spaces. Additional spots in the RV lot (many of which went unused last year) and additional spots around C.Y. Stephens may be a net gain in numbers are not necessarily an even trade in quality and convenience. The closest RV spot is much farther from the stadium that C6 and D4.
I would love to get some real numbers of how many spots will be available in the newly paved (yes!) C and D lots.
