Iowa State linebacker Jesse Smith has been named the Walter Camp national defensive player of the week for his play in Saturday’s 9-7 win at Nebraska.
The senior had 12 tackles, including two for loss in the Cyclones’ first win at Nebraska since 1977.
Smith also forced a fumble, broke up a pass, and sealed the win with an interception with 1:31 left in the game.

Didn't he also tip a deep pass down the middle that was intercepted? Is that what they mean by "broke up a pass" ??

Didn't he also tip a deep pass down the middle that was intercepted? Is that what they mean by "broke up a pass" ??

I believe he tipped the pass that David Sims ultimately ended up intercepting. But he did have a pass break-up in single coverage over the middle, which is what they are referring to.
