Bball last year vs Ohio State. I really thought we were final four if we win that game, especially the way the bracket played out.

    Seneca Wallace vs Florida State

Michigan State Elite Eight game. One of my first kick in the nuts ISU experiences.

Sometimes I still think of that game, get numb with disbelief, and slam 4 beers just for nostalgia's sake.

The '04 and '05 regular season football finales are right up there.

I wouldn't say it was a kick in the manzone, but I remember being seriously sad after the '00 Elite Eight game. It was just a really fun year, and it was hard to watch players like Michael Nurse coming to tears on the sideline; there was a feeling that a lot of those guys had just ended what was probably the best experience they'd had in basketball (and maybe life if you want to go that far).

Hampton, Seneca vs. FSU, the 2 Big 12 north titles we ****** down our leg, independence bowl where we made the field goal that was waived off and lost to Alabama. Thanks for making me remember these...back to therapy.

I can't do this right now. But just glossing over it I would almost be tempted to wrap a lot from that 2002 football season up into 1 massive heart break like we were punished for the great comeback against Iowa.

    Seneca (ISU) vs FSU
Going down to OU getting thumped
    Losing to UConn
Losing on Smurf Turf in Humanitarian Bowl

That 2002 f-ball season was on the heels of Hampton early 2001, Yelk with the make er uh miss against Bama late 01, we think we are thru the weeds then the 02 F-ball season with highs against Iowa and Neb and The Run. Need beer

Maybe we should start a favorite Iowa State win thread..... :)

But since I am an Iowa State fan, I certainly have heartbreaking losses.

    1. Michigan State 2000. Painful. Still can't watch that game.

    2. Ohio State last year. I don't know if we were going to the final 4 without Babb at 100%, but I do know that the team showed incredible guts to come back in that game without Babb and to have it taken away due to inept officiating was painful. I honestly slept very little that night.

    3. Kansas last year. I still have deep anger about that game. STILL.

    4. Texas football this year. Again, with the inept officiating.

    5. Seneca against Florida State. Was almost a program changing win. Heartbreaking.

    I go with significance:

1.) MSU. Think how close ISU was to winning the national title. With Fizer and JT, our defense, rebounding, and toughness, if we get past MSU, oh boy.

2.) Missouri football '04. At home to go to the Big 12 title game. That elevates a program's brand, and football drives college athletics.
3.) Kansas football '05. See above.
4.) Cameron Dollar. A few seconds away from the Elite Eight, and then anything can happen. Cato was so close to blocking it.

    5.) Ohio State 2013

    6.) Indy Bowl against 'Bama

I didn't become a big ISU fan till 2006, so the 2013 Ohio St game got me the most.

The worst loss in ISU history was their loss to Drake in football in 1985. There is nothing even close. I remember sitting through that game and was so depressed I still haven't recovered. Thank you Jim Criner. Iowa State should never have lost to Drake especially a bad Drake team.

At least do it in the offseason when there's nothing else to talk about.
