In the Championship game of the Nike Nationals in Chicago Kylie Fuerebach calmly drains a 3 at the buzzer to win the VERY PRESTIGIOUS Nike Nationals in Chicago. Among the spectators at the game was Kevin Durant.

Feuerbach comes from an interesting background. She was #6 in Illinois in discus at the state meet, not typical for an athletic-but-not-huge basketball player, but she comes from a family of throwers. Most notably, her uncle is Al Feuerbach, who set several world-records in shotput in the 70s despite being significantly smaller than his competition. He even had a Sports Illustrated article about him: https://www.si.com/vault/1973/04/30/615644/the-magnificent-obsession

As mentioned in most ISU-centric articles about her, her grandpa (Orlyn) played basketball at ISU. He was the #2 scorer on ISU's Big-Six Champion team in 1945. He became a veterinarian, which he did for almost 50 years.

Her father (Steve) was the 1983 QC Times area male athlete of the year. Both he and his wife/Kylie's mother (Lisa) attended ISU, as did Kylie's sister and brother.

And back on the topic of Kevin Durant:

Can't help but pile on to the info on Kylie-here's an article from her area paper:

What I like to see...

“Every single day, I make 300 3s a day,” she said. “That’s a lot of shooting in the corner. After I make them, I make 500 free throws. It’s really time consuming, but it’s all about muscle memory. In that championship game, it just comes back to you. I live for those moments.”

Sound like a heck of shooter coming our way...

Wow!! I played intramural hoops at ISU with her dad, Steve! We won the class B championship one year and did pretty well in class A the next year. A ROCK of a defender as I recall.

GREAT dude. Was carrying about a 3.95 to go to ISU Vet School.

Worth its own thread but its a shame this player will likely play for some big nut school

(Crazy but my great niece is her classmate and back when Ballard had a star my B-I-L was a coach there).
