All sorts of rumors that his wife was house hunting in Texas. ESPN Austin has confirmed also.
why would he leave for Texas? What could Texas football possible have that Alabama football doesn't?
A new challenge.
I'll believe it when I see it. He's not going to break anyone's National championship record of he keeps switching schools. Other than setting a record, what does he have left to prove?
Higher earning potential.
A challenge. Winning the conference next year at Alabama would be meeting expectations. He'd be praised as a god in Texas for winning the big 12 next year.
Plus I also think that even with how arrogant Saban is he knows that all of these runs come to an end in CFB and he could get out before Bama's starts winding down.
Endless resources would be one driver.
this is the correct answer. If he wins it again this year he'd have 4 of the last 5 championships. He just might want to do something different.
That, $$$$, and a much easier path to National Title game (in his mind). Practically semi-retirement but making more money...
A trip to Ames every other year...
That he's the greatest college football coach ever. Turning Alabama and Texas into dynasties plus winning a title at LSU would make a pretty solid argument.
Preparation of a Courtney Messiness (spell check suggested I changed it to this, so I did) offense...
If Texas hires Saban I'd put the over/under on OU firing Stoops at 2 years and I might take the under.
If he wanted a real challenge why doesn't he come to Iowa State?
As OC, I completely agree.
5 More years without NCAA Infractions Committee sniffing around. This DJ Fluker thing is going to end with some sort of sanctions and Alabama is a repeat offender.
Has anyone won championships at 3 different schools? (honest question, not snarky)
Barry Switzer agrees (unfortunately).
I honestly don't know what more he could do with a little more $ that he can't already do. (Not to mention his kids & their kids & their kids...)
Then he can come to Iowa. Perfect.
