Commitment? Way too many players lack that in spades. If you’re worried about being hurt why not quit before the season? Or two games ago?
I think it’s a great thing but cam ward played the season to get a high draft pick and to make the playoffs.

He did not make the playoffs and he is a heisman finalist and projected 2nd pick.

I would be walking around with security and bubble wrap for the next couple months.
Blowing your knee out against isu in the pop tarts bowl would be rough.

If he plays great just an observation

Well, in the case of Miami at least, they were in the playoff hunt to the very last game. If they had beat Syracuse in that last game, they were likely a lock for the CFP. And a win against SMU in the ACC title game where they likely would be favored would have locked up a first round bye. So they had a lot to play for.

This bowl game is the first time this year they will be playing with no national title hopes on the line.

Not exactly sure.
I dont know why Hormel doesn't sponsor a Spam bowl. Seems like a no brainer.
Yeah, highly unlikely they would do that. Most of their sponsoring was through specific schools with muscle milk but selling that, they don’t seem to go into that area as much as many. Minnesota is a pro state also, gophers don’t register as much.

Commitment? From 5-star name players at "The U"?

I think it is MUCH more likely they got a special one-day NIL deal for $500k as long as they play in the bowl.

Probably a free 1 day injury insurance deal too.

I like the matchup, but What's the deal with us playing "nearly" (or actual) home games for the other team in bowl games?

Playing Memphis in Memphis (twice)
Playing Boise in Boise
Playing TCU in Houston (~4 hours away)
Playing Rutgers in Yankee Stadium (~2 hours away)
Playing Tulsa in Memphis (~5 hours away)
Playing Alabama in Shreveport (this is more of a stretch, ~ 6 hours away)
Playing Miami in Orlando (~ 4 hours away)

Any others?

(oh, and I believe 6 of those 7 were losses :( )

It's easier to say Pitt, Notre Dame and Oregon had to travel a long ways but every other opponent was a road game. Three of those literally the home stadium. Most of the others comparable to us playing in KC.
