That score implies a devastating loss I think. Down 10-3 late, Iowa state scores a TD and in a rare move, goes for the win with the 2pt conversion and gets it. ISU 11-10. Somehow Iowa scores a TD and goes for 2 to keep it at a 7pt game. Final score 18-11. We all get drunk.

That's going to happen regardless.

If ISU gets a lead it will be a time for them to step on the throat and they'll hold off for some stupid reason.

ISU - 21
UI - 13
Both teams trade TDs on their first possessions before settling into a slog that lasts most of the 1st half, late fg gives them the lead going in. We score coming out of half, then get a turnover leading to a quick strike. We try to burn the clock for the entire 4Q, leading to some nervous and frustrating moments. Heacock reminds everyone he still know what he's doing and Capt Kirk reminds everyone that he still doesn't understand offense.
I understand the pessimism going in, but I choose to believe that eventually good triumphs. Reports are that ISU had a more physical and intense fall camp, hence the injuries, but hopefully that also means we're more prepared than in the past. More than that, I think this is an even more mediocre than usual Iowa team. Nothing about this Iowa team concerns me.

What should be basically a 50/50 or 60/40 game has gone 90/10 to the bad guys under CMC. Theres no real explanation other than coaching and approach.

CMC isnt going anywhere (nor do i want him to), so until kirk and phil retire, i just cant get real excited about this game. Its like theyre the Astros and have our signs and playbook.
It's basically come down to stupid mistakes (on ISU's part) and turnovers (some of which were stupid mistakes). Iowa's lack of turnovers during the Campbell era in this game is crazy. They literally haven't turned it over at all. Most teams who don't turn it over win.

We need to force some turnovers today. A Cooper pick 6 would be outstanding.

My prediction: Pain. Hopefully for the Hoks.

Why is there so much negativety here while I'm optimistic of our chance? I feel like I'm in Bizarro world.
When Campbell is like, what, 1-7 against Ferentz. And most of the games we have looked as ugly as Hawkeye basketball picture day...it's hard to garner up confidence that the Cyclones can win.

Oh of course. And that late score would be something like a fumble-scoop-and-score as we're trying to drain clock running up the middle.

Wow, so much pessimism in this thread.

I'll go out on a limb here and say ISU 34 - 24 with Iowa tacking on a late TD in garbage time to make the final look better.

And it seems you’re contributing to that pessimism. Seems like a lot has to go wrong for Iowa to score 24 and get within 10.

Way up there
Not a good feeling about this one, the lack of a run game and young LB's seem like a bad matchup against Iowa.

I'm think Iowa wins a 24-10/27-13 type of game.
Always happy to be wrong, I think the LB are still a concern but the OL held up good enough.

27-10 TOE. It pains me to no end, but there is absolutely nothing about how we’ve played them in the CMC era, coupled with last week, that has me confident. But I will say this - we will outgain them in total yards once again. Insane how that stat has gone in recent Cy-Hawk games.
Never happier to be wrong, just stepped inside from grilling my crow to eat tonight. The team that took the field in the second half can win the league.
