i'm one of those that for the most part hasn't minded the black uniforms, and still thinks the W/B/W they wore against TCU back in 2019 (the last game I attended in person) was one of the best combos ever. That said... it's getting to the point where it's completely overdone. it honestly feels like we wear them more than the school colors now. and maybe it's just a personal complaint, but i really hate how it has absolutely no tie in to the standard uniform elements, which means you cannot mix and match the two sets.
Im one that is fine with black unis as long as they keep it as an alternate.
I agree we over use them at times.
But as I have told many, mostly hawkroaches that we wore Cardinal and Gold 9 games this year, and wore black/white 5. So we did wear Cardinal/Gold more, actually almost double.
My feeling is we probably wore them a couple times too many, but then you have to realize we wore black with white a few times, and white with black a couple times, so its not exactly wearing the blacks 5 times, but different versions of them 5 times.
In the end its kind of hilarious how butt hurt the hoks get over it, and as long as we win I dont care.
But do these people that hate it so much also hate when Ohio State wears blacks, or Oregon, or Florida or Tenn, etc etc etc.
I think we could kill the argument if we just add black as we did blue as an accent color.
Or we could embrace the history of Black and add silver and gold like our original colors were, and officially list them as alternates, as well as Tertiary Blue, and recognize them as official alternate colors from our history.
Fun fact the tertiary blue we wore during the 90s was not the only time we wore blue. When Veenker arrived from Michigan he brought their colors with him, and we wore Blue and Gold at least for his first year here, not sure if we wore them in his other years.
